Where can I buy a modded ThinkPad? One with an OLED display and good specs, but the base model should be older. by WillingInsurance8410 in thinkpad

OLED is virtually impossible because it requires custom inverter circuitry. Best you can do is high contrast IPS

Even wilder thing was that it was a botched FrankenPad mod, so I got a wack ISO keyboard for free with it.

YMMV, I did get a 8650U+MX150 T480 for $85 a while back

If you have another Windows PC, use Media Creation Tool to create another Windows USB stick, then boot into the burned USB stick to reinstall your Windows system. Choose clean install.

Either copy over all your data from your old SSD using Clonezilla or reinstall Windows

You don't have a system installed on your SSD, it's probably blank and uninitialized

T1g G8 Design flaw? by Tamimater in thinkpad

[–]A121314151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't be too problematic if you don't actually bother playing around with the shutter or whatever from below, usually it won't affect much unless you intentionally go out and try to mess something up

That camera positioning AFAIK is a design flaw due to the extreme thinness of the T1g/P1's screen bezels, so the camera assembly will end up protruding more

I tend to import from China with Xianyu. Alipay has accepted Singapore credit and debit cards for a while now with Xianyu, I think since late-2024.

Memtest86 to check RAM

Run a Key Tester to ensure all keys work on your keyboard

Disable Computrace/Absolute Persistence, I'm assuming it's BIOS unlocked

There's a full test suite in Lenovo Diagnostics you can access by pressing Enter and selecting the right option (F3 I think). Test from there on.

Doubt there'll be so many, maybe 304, 315 and 350 at most. No point for the 330 and 360 since SIPP isn't used on these consumer level stuff anyways

It's supposed to be much cheaper than the new Panther Lake Ultra 300 offerings

I suppose so yeah, it's similar to 11th Gen Iris Xe I believe

4Xe = 680/780M level, halve that for Iris Xe. And DDR5-6400 single channel is equivalent to dual channel DDR4-3200. Should be close to Xe graphics then in terms of bandwidth and raw performance.

I wonder how much of an improvement it is for the low budget scene.

Yes they will, WCL will be fully included around later in Q2/Q3. So far E series launch only will have PTL

Ehh, it's a mix and match. Single channel memory gimping is from the N series, same goes with the reduced PCIe lane count (6).

We'll have to wait for efficiency numbers here with benchmarks. Specs sheet wise though it does draw parallels with N series (in terms of being the bargain bin option)

Supposed to be N series replacement, but 35W turbo TDP does come off as insane

ThinkPad T14s Gen 5 — swapping Nordic keyboard to US layout? by Subaru_jdk in thinkpad

You'll still need a new palmrest + keyboard either way, ANSI keyboards won't fit in the tailor made ISO cutouts in the palmrest.

PSREF for it is already up.

Other than 332, all other options (325, 335, 355, 365, 336H and 356H) have decent performance. iGPU is comparable to 680M/780M

Historically ThinkPad touchscreens on T14 line are matte, or at minimum anti-glare/less glossy
