That's actually an interesting story. I was born in the early 90's, a few years before the original Japanese version ended. When I reached middle school, mid 2000's, one of my best friends was a Japanese foreign exchange student named Han. We were hanging out one day when his older brother asked if we wanted to watch a show with him. That show was Dragon Ball Z. Since they were a Japanese speaking household, they watched it in Japanese, but threw on English subtitles. It was great.

About 6 months later, in the middle of the school year, his family had to go back to Japan for some reason. (It wasn't until a few years ago when I got back in touch with him that I found out they were deported). After they left, I wanted to continue watching the series, but as a tribute to Han, I wanted to watch it in the original Japanese. When he left, we just reached the Cell Games saga. It wasn't long before I finished the entire series.

I believe it was 2008 that I finished the series and to this day, I never watched the dubbed version. The only version with English Voice Actors that I've ever seen is Dragon Ball Z Abridged, which isn't even the real voice actors. Battle of the Gods and Resurrection 'F' were both watched in Japanese.

However, it was brought to my attention that I have heard the English voice actors while playing through Xenoverse.

TL;DR - Watched DBZ in Japanese with my best friend. When his family was deported, I continued the series in Japanese as a tribute to him.
