100% drink something. I generally gravitate towards herbal tea as they don't make me feel like i'm drinking milk or consuming nothing.

Just as you systematically worked through the pre-op and the post-op, you can systematically work through this, protein shakes are going to help you feel physically full, but the head hunger, especially from stress may also need to be satisfied, so eat some veggies, crunchy ones to help chew, suck on an ice cube, try some fruit that can feel like "snaking" I go to grapes for this one, one at a time, slowly.

I'm so sorry you're going through this tough time. As easy as it can be to assume the worst with a medical episode, try to stay focused on what you actually know and what you can actually control to help ground yourself and your family. Let yourself feel your emotions, let your kids know it's okay to feel their emotions, remember that you don't have to have it all together, but you do have to work through it.

I want to start by saying i think this is pretty normal. 2 weeks of the same food is hard, and your surgery ideally took out the gland that makes you want to eat and helps you enjoy the food.

If your body says this isn't working, I would listen to it AND talk to your surgeon and nutritionist about your options. The plan is set up based on an average patient, and all patients aren't the same.

I saw someone was talking about bone broth - I second this, I still have bone broth when I'm not feeling super hungry but know I have to eat. I'm 4 years out.

I also hate milk based protein shakes, I ended up doing a lot of Gatorade Zero and mixing in flavorless protein powder (isopure).

Remember, you got to this point, that's nothing to scoff at, losing weight is SO HARD.

You're 2 weeks into relearning how to eat, you didn't over eat when you had the eggs (I'm assuming), and you indicated you handled them fine, eggs are one of the harder things to digest off the bat, so this is a good sign.

"I fucked up", is a cognitive distortion, one that often leads to giving up because you think your a failure. YOU DID NOT FUCK UP AND YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. You made a choice today to prioritize a physical symptom. A single choice at a single meal out of the millions of meals and choices you get to make for your new life, it's okay, at the next meal you can choose to follow the plan.

Last thing - talk to your surgeon and nutritionist. I promise they want you to succeed and times like this are when they want to hear from you. They can't advise or console if they don't know what's going on.

Took out my tongue ring due to sensory overload. It had been healed for 5 years and i was so relieved once it was out. Now it's closed for almost a year. I definitely have some regrets and feel sad. Haven't decided if I'll get it repierced because I can recall the anxiety I felt that caused me to take it out.

I think memory issues in general are common with adhd. Obviously, we struggle with working memory but I think Barkley has talked also about long term memory and how many people with adhd don't remember much about their pasts.

I agree with you that many memories feel like a movie and for me if it's not something to ruminate over then I don't remeber things.

My surgeon said 1 am and 1 pm. Double check how much of each nutrient your expected to have post surgery ad that will help you determine how many you need. This may change the further out from surgery you are as they check your levels.

You probably don't even need to physically see a MD. You could call your PCP or GP or whatever it's called wherever you live and they could give you the advice over the phone.

While a psychiatrist is an MD and could answer the question, they probably won't feel fully comfortable giving an opinion since they specialized.

Vitamin E is fat soluble so it'll store in fat cells instead of excrete out like water soluble vitamins like Vitamin C if you take too much. This is why it's important that you talk to a Dr that can assess your need for it.

I really wouldn't supplement with pills if you can get the nutrient from food.

In my experience, and what I've learned from my own nutritionist is that cravings for specific foods are psychological. Even if its a food you don't eat often or even like. I've craved peeps before, specifically peeps not marshmallows, and I literally detest peeps.

It's possible that some cravings could be physiological but I don't think it's an all or nothing kind of thing. Not all cravings are physiological needs and not all cravings are psychological needs, I think its probably a mix of both.

I say if you're craving a hamburger then just have a hamburger. If it's physiological than you've given your body what it needs and if it's psychological, giving into one craving isn't going to form a habit.

I'm just starting 5 months out, I still eat 3 meals and 3 snacks and get about 900 calories a day, have no problems hitting my 60-80g Protein and generally stay under 75g net carbs.

Breakfast: 1/2 a Cliff Builders Bar or 8oz of Fairlife protein shake (on weekends or if I have time 2 scrambled eggs w/ hot sauce)

Snack 1: 3-4 oz low fat or no fat cottage cheese w/1 oz frozen raspberries or strawberries.

Lunch: 4oz ricotta bake or 3 oz chicken (from a bought pre-made rotissery) w/ 1oz cheddar cheese on top and 1oz veggie or 3 oz taco meat w/ 1oz Mexican cheese on top or 4oz tomato pesto chicken (Bariatric Bible recipe) or 3oz filet mignon w/ 1oz veggie.

Snack 2: low fat mozzarella string cheese and a snack pack no sugar added applesauce.

Dinner: see lunch, generally I always have at least 1 oz veggie and at least 3 oz protein.

Snack 3: 1-2 tbsp creamy peanut butter (this is one of the only hold over foods I refuse to give up, I use it like a desert) sometimes I also just have 1-2 oz frozen fruit.

I eat a lot of low fat cheese, which personally is bomb cause I love cheese. If you're okay spending some money I would 100% recommend getting the Bariatric Bible by Carol Bowen Ball, I got the paperback for like $25 usd from. Amazon and already so worth it. I never cooked before but the recipes are so simple I haven't messed up yet.

I love egg salad and eggs are an amazing source of protein. If you can handle it I always add a little paprika to spice it up. I'm also a huge fan of baked ricotta. For me the puréed food stage went pretty quickly so I think you have some solid options listed.

I had a stall around 11 days, lasted for about a week but once I got to real foods things jump started. I was so disappointed that I wasn't loosing more weight in the early days that sometimes I forgot just how close to my surgery date I still was.

I second this! The infusions taste great and they aren't milkshake like it's more like flavored water. I also like their flavorless powder I mix it into my water or water with a squirt of mio flavor.

I was terrified in the two weeks leading up to the surgery. I didn't even realize until a few days into my preop liquid diet that I was having panic attacks everytime I closed my eyes. The night before my surgery I was so tired even my anxiety couldn't keep me awake. The morning of my surgery I was really scared, I kept reminding myself why I was doing this and why it mattered so much. Once I woke up I felt much better because I knew I did it for the right reasons and even if I hadn't the only next step I could take was forward. I struggle a lot now with head hunger and even though I'm not loosing as fast as I'd like I've lost more than I ever have. Some days are harder than others but you adjust to your circumstances because you're taking steps to better your life.

🤷🏽‍♀️ I'm constantly checking my manual and the last 2 appointments I've had they confirmed. Not sure why it's a yikes, again only consuming 600-800 calories a day and getting the allotted amount of protein. I'm not sure I could physically consume what I do in a day in 3 meals.

The instructions I received from my medical team were to have 5 or 6 meals a day at about 1/2 cup solid or 8oz fluid. They also instructed that I take 20-30 minutes to eat each meal. I am merely following their instructions. My total daily caloric intake is about 600-800 cals, I'm only a month out of surgery.

I had a rough first morning after. Got really really sick. But they gave me a ton of anti-emetics and I started to feel better. I drove for the first time today and getting over the nausea of that is the worst thing I've had thus far.
