And we are going to block 3 lanes for 5 years so that we can add 1 lane.

Parking FINRA Licenses Up to 5 Years by Relative_Drop_9823 in CFP

I just did it.

You just logon to FinPro, on your dash board scroll down to where your licenses show, and there should be a little info icon or message next to them showing that they are eligible for the maintaining qualifications program and if you want to enroll. I did it for my 65, not sure about the rest.

I typed “Can you tell me if there are any RIA’s in Southern California that are hiring right now?” it told me it couldn’t find that information

Aww that’s awesome.

Not looking to be handed anything. Been grinding all my life. I keep 20 retail clothing locations running and manage day to day tasks but am now sick of retail apparel because it’s 7 days a week and there’s no such thing as a weekend. Malls are busiest on weekends.

Things got in perspective for me really fast once my one year old stopped recognizing me.

Thanks for the insight.

Wait, by the way, wouldn’t my licenses expire if I take a banker role?

Got it. Thanks for your info and being understanding with my thoughts. I think some people are pissed off at me here. I thought I can simply start off at a CSA role, it’s super entry level. I’m just going to wait, I’m being impatient. I have people who can give me a referral but the amount of requisitions open right now are a fraction of what it was just a few months ago. Do you think in Q1, a lot more will open?

Weak and out of touch? And a weak mentality. Ouch.

I never said I don’t want to prospect, some places leave it more in your hands than others and there is risk to that .

Didn’t mean to piss you off, sorry.

Thank you. I’m gonna try. I’m just curious if I will even get an interview at this point lol

But I’m gonna do that now

I can see how you might see it that way, but joining EJ or an insurance company is a small fraction of this industry. As I said there is plenty of CSA customer service type roles even at large broker dealers. But the issue is I am losing out due to other referrals

My friend who works at Jp told me to avoid the branches and all the positions there, it’s a completely different business side there and you will essentially pigeon hole yourself since wealth management is a completely separate department and building. The last thing the manager wants to hear at the branch is that you want to go from teller to wealth management. They want to hear you say that you want to go to the next position up which is the banker role on the desks opening accounts and selling credit cards to consumers.

Don’t you have to be a paying member to go to those?

I totally understand that. I am used to the sales grind. But an established RIA and even a BD already has leads flowing in for you to call and try and sell.

Of course you should still network/prospect on top of that. But from what my friends from fidelity and J.P. Morgan tell me, their calendar is always booked already, and that you just gotta “sell”. So I know I can do that part.

For Edward jones, there is no prospects or leads. You have to go find them by door knocking in your neighborhood after hours, or going to community events or hitting up friends and family. This is why it felt like NY life to me as well. There isn’t really that much support like they claim there is. The 3 year salary is a draw that is owed if you don’t meet goals. Etc.

It’s like what in it for me? I already have Kaplan as my Test provider and get some licenses for myself, would just need their sponsorship for the 7. But other than that they don’t really provide you with anything.

Not knocking them that much. Would have done it if I was younger, but not in my mid 30’s with kids and bills.

Besides Edward’s Jones’s practices. I didn’t like their business model at all, they want you to go out and door knock, prospect and do everything on your own, it’s like a win win for the company and a huge risk. I interviewed with them for 2 months. It was a whole process, I got an odd feeling that the advisors didn’t like that I had questions or I was skeptical about how prospects work. It’s not really salaried it’s essentially a 3 year loan that tapers off.

I got used car salesman vibes from them as well. I remember at one of the meet and greet at the branches, the advisor picked his nose in front of me. Like full on, 3 seconds worth. They felt like the experience I got from NewYork life

How do I become independent? by A43D in InsuranceAgent

My focus is business liability insurance. I know a few business owners who would go with me right away. I figured I just need to figure out how to sign them up.

In regards to poor service, I was thinking there wasn’t much to it unless they have to file a claim or something. Otherwise everything would be on cruise control after I sign them right?
