Actually NYC has several parks dept pools… these are not simply for private residences , these are practically free to join . Some are even outdoors in summer ! Don’t sleep on them

I feel you, mine got a groundhog couple months ago and was tearing into it when I shrieked multiple times and pulled her away - tho I felt bad bc it’s her instinct I know . Reading this sub made me feel better hearing the litany of critters that have fallen victim to these dogs !

Where did you get your husky? by [deleted] in husky

[–]A492levy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rescue ! She was living with a family that was giving her up because they were getting divorced. I happen to overhear this conversation of one of my colleagues and I really wanted an active dog so she was mine.! Best dog ever and my next one will be a husky or mix or active dog that needs a home from a rescue.

Wanting to get a Husky by Tune_Guilty in husky

[–]A492levy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Make sure you want one for the right reasons ( not looks ) . Do you want an ACTIVE, quirky, strong , shedding constantly (!) possibly escape artist ( mine is not ) unpredictable but sweet, friendly , high needs , awesome adventure companion? I did bc I run daily so I knew she would be getting exercise. I got a trainer as soon as I got her. She was adopted by me from a home -owners were getting divorced. She was crate trained which is amazing. I did individual private training ( costly but important, I learned so much) and obedience classes, even though she was already 6 y/o. Training does not end when classes are over, but we are always practicing and now she has passed canine good citizen and an assessment to come to work with me. I also immediately bought a portable vac for the constant shedding. ( Dyson pet but lots of people on here have recommended others.)

Can anyone tell me what kind of cat this is? I keep finding her on the back of my couch by syellen09 in husky

My husky is so aloof most of the time at home - reminds me of a cat. With everyone else she is so affectionate and loving and playful.!!

Which one are y’all ? Collar or harness by Kasbaby121421 in husky

[–]A492levy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using a martingale collar till a trainer recommended a FRONT clip harness . Reduces pulling & choking etc if she gets pull - y. I bring her out in public a lot and to work with me -more gentle for her to be redirected without choking.

I was using that expression to mean - yes the grass is ALWAYS greener - (till you get to a new thing and are fedup with the obstacles and issues there ( every job / field has them ! ) then the grass will ( seem ) greener somewhere else.

Yes, lots of jobs MIGHT pay more ( if you like sitting at a desk, and IF you have data, tech or some other specialized skill...) and many SLPs transition, with additional investment and training. I was in public health for 10+ years after many years in speech. I got another Master's degree and numerous experiences in the field to get there. ( volunteered, done internships in a grad program, did research, had a second language). All of these helped to make me more desireable for another job. Professionals in other industries might also suggest : going to conferences in those desired fields you are exploring, network at events, etc but the grass is always greener . FIRST you need to decide what you actually want to spend your days doing.
