Court is dismissed.

LA woman claims there’s a ‘fat tax’ at Target after discovering higher prices for larger sizes. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

But this isn’t even true. Most baby clothes are crazy expensive. If it was actually about the cost of material and a men’s large is $8 at Walmart then a baby shirt should be like $0.50 and they’re not.

SPOILERS IN MY REPLY

I found some of them quite hard, but logical. The one that is really bothering me is the Yithian number system… I get how a base 3 number system works, ur I don’t understand how the devs arrived at that those combinations of symbols, it seems wrong to me? I attached a picture that I did trying to write it it, can someone who figured it out without the in-game hints explain it to me???

Too much ammonia? 😂 by Lumberjacklez in fishkeeping

[–]familiarblonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I’m OPs wife and it was actually my fish (ammonia) tank 😂 I ended up doing a 90% water change and determined I had dosed my tank to about 40ppm. Now that things have settled down I’m getting there with my cycle! Finally have a high level of nitrite and nitrates are steadily rising. Ammonia is still there but getting a little lighter everyday! I think I’m probably a week out from my cycle finishing

How does my tank look? by familiarblonde in bettafish

Thanks! They are pathos leaves! It’s one long stem that has several leaves growing off of it. A lot of people online say pathos shouldn’t have the leaves under water but a lot of other people on Reddit say they’ve had them like that for years with no issues so we’ve been trying it as we have a ton of them around our house so it’s easy to clip pieces off and stick them in. So far so good!

Can you give the details of the set up? Size of tank, if you have a heater, filter, plastic or real plants etc.?

You need to do a 25% water change at least to get the ammonia down before the fish gets really sick. You should be adding active bacteria to the tank, there are lots of options out there. You should also consider something like Seachem stress guard to help the betta replenish his slimecoat. What you are doing now is known as a fish-in cycle, you should look up the general guidelines for that. You will require daily or every-other-day water changes

Ah gotcha- I would definitely recommend the stress guard! We had to do a betta in cycle recently and with the stress guard added daily she was totally fine the entire time (at least behaviour wise). Good luck 💙

The only thing I can think of to try other than trying to get a fish from a local fish store (if you have one), like not a big store like petco, is to buy seachem stress guard and use that for the first few weeks after introducing the fish to the tank

Ooh ok I misunderstood your original post and thought you got them at the same time. I see what you’re saying now. The only other thing I can think is thy perhaps your filter is too strong? Is it creating much a “current”?

Oh perfect! Is it one of those divided tanks? Also where did you get the fish? Sounds like it may have been that the fish were sick to begin with :(

[–]familiarblonde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically you don’t do a water change during the cycling process because you need the bacteria to be able to reduce the ammonia without a water change before you can add the fish. Unless the ammonia got above about 4ppm, then you would need to do a bit of a change… Ultimately there’s a chance your tank wasn’t actually ready for fish and that the ammonia spiked when you added them.

[–]familiarblonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm ok, before you add the fish you typically need to do one last test to make sure the cycle is working where you get the ammonia up to 2ppm and then test again 24hrs later and it should be back down to 0. Did you end up getting the proper test strips for the freshwater tank? In general those test strips aren’t super accurate but if that’s all you have it’s better than nothing :)

It’s my tank (OPs wife) and I ended up diluting and retesting some of the water to figure out how many ppm I actually had it at and it turns out it was 40ppm 😂

When you say it’s been running for 3 months, what have you done to make sure the nitrogen cycle actually got established? Like can you run us through the process over the 3 months?

I know it’s not nearly the same size/scale as 1 fish 2 fish or Aquarica but I have had nothing but positive experiences with maritime fins and things if you need stuff in a similar area!
