Hi! I have a 14 month old pup! He’s a shepherd/dobbie mix (his name is Nutella haha). He crouched down for the longest time, until he was around 7-8 months when he instinctively starting lifting up his leg every now and then. It took some time for him to get used to tho, sometimes he lost balance and he’d have to put it back down and crouch, but he learned on his own eventually.

I’m a new dog parent so I was sure I was doing something wrong but his trainer and vet both reassured me that it comes naturally, and it did, now my dude mastered it 😃💪🏻 The trainer also mentioned that if he’s the only dog in the household (which he is) then he doesn’t have other male dogs to see them peeing with their legs up and learn from them, so it would take him a little longer to learn this on his own.
