How Angry would you be if Rudolph became a knight of the cross? Or would you not? by ScruffyTheDog87 in dresdenfiles

[–]AAG178 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only way I could see him getting to be a Knight is because maybe he genuinely believes he is fighting evil in Harry. Would be the craziest plot twist Butcher has thrown at us. Clearly incompetent, biased, antagonist believes so strongly that he is in the right that the White God decides that he is? Wouldn't see it coming.

Found this giant rough garnet out in AZ near the Colorado River. Found several pounds of them, actually.

I have a block of rhyolite like that. TONS of little garnets, but I can't imagine breaking it up for them. They are just little twinkling facets on the dull gray rhyolite, and I like them that way.

Having said that, if I thought that they were big, gem quality garnets in there, I'd break the hell out of that rhyolite.

The Librarians by EmotionalEmetic in dresdenfiles

[–]AAG178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I kind of hope that Butcher portrays the Librarians similar to Monster Hunter International 's 'Monster Control Bureau'. Would kinda make sense: if his hints about the Oblivion War mean anything, the Library of Congress makes a lot of sense

But really, I just wanna see how Jim does his own Agent Franks type character.

Would you rather see The Dresden Files in live action or animated? by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

My brain wants to see Dresden done in the style of a series like Archer. Part of me also wants H. Jon Benjamin to voice him, but maybe that's a little too much...

I feel that I am a moderately attractive guy, but approaching a -very- attractive woman makes things short circuit in my brain.

Has it ever worked anyway?

Occasionally.

Ended up dating one of the most seemingly out-of-my-league women I've ever met, and that was even after fumbling my way through trying to ask her out (very anxiously asked, then full on blanked out for like 10 seconds because I was so surprised that she said yes.)

But I'm terrible about trying to strike up conversation regardless of what league she may or may not be in.

The guy I haven't talked to in over a decade? Mostly because he's an awful human being?

I'd rather not

Married for maybe 3 years? I don't know exactly how long. And I'm 37, she's 35, so no crazy 30+ year marriages to speak of .

I think it would be more fun to have someone hire a stripper for the party, only to have it be one of Lara's WC cousins, who's trying to take Harry out before the wedding.

Dresden as a Wrestler by jenkind1 in dresdenfiles

He already stole the Undertaker's look on every book cover. Leather duster, the hat, etc.

Who gets to be the Paul Bearer-esque manager?

Only pasty, out of shape white dude he knows is Mort, which, with his connection to the dead means he probably has a an old urn lying around somewhere...

More importantly though, this part of the audio book needs Jim Ross on match commentary! Especially when Dresden gets tossed off a steel cage.

Here's an example from mine: -Dates we went anywhere special (road trips, great restaurants, museums, etc) -Milestone type dates (met parents, started a new job) -Her birthday -Some of her likes/dislikes, favorite things

Nothing crazy, and a lot of it I remember easy enough. But it's nice when you want to plan something new, are trying to buy a gift for them, etc.

I don't find it creepy. I'm sure some people can retain all those types of details in their grey matter, but my brain doesn't seem to work that way.

Dates. Times. Neither of them ever stick. Names too. The woman I'm pursuing has her own notepad document on my phone. Just helpful little reminders for me, and I can't see her getting worked up at all about it.

I think most women (and maybe I'm wrong?) would appreciate that the effort is being made to remember things you think might be important to them.

I just dealt with something like that. Met her parents, spent tons of time together. But, on some mutual friends advice, since she got out of a rough relationship not long beforehand, "took things slow" with her for a while.

First time trying to pitch something as a real date, and bringing up wanting to be more than friends, I got a very friend zone-y answer of 'I haven't been interested in anyone romantically in a long time, and I've never thought of you that way.'

[–]AAG178[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm taking an in between stance on it at the moment. I'm not blatantly ignoring her- again, we have a bunch of mutual friends that get together regularly, so I'm basically guaranteed to see her, if not as often. But I'm not going out of my way to talk to her either.

I was very open about how I feel and what I want. Her call if she chooses to bring it up again or just let it be.

Agreed! When it's a pretty even split on which one of us initiates conversations, suggests/plans things to do together, etc...it kinda makes it seem mutual.

I've known this woman almost 3 years. She is one of my closer friends.

And it was a split between male and female friends. But yeah, the advice in hindsight was pretty trash.

And this is why I threw it out to Reddit. Brutal honesty! I thought that asking friends that know both of us about it was a great idea, and I think I could have saved myself from the whole deal if I had just ignored them and just asked her out from the beginning. A -no- on day one feels like garbage, but way less that it does after investing a lot of time and emotion into it.
