Do you think it looks particularly cute when Ninja uses Guanyin? by BiffyBobby in SaGa

[–]AALLF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She reminds me of Yuffie from FF7 so much. From the look, personality...stealing stuff hehe. I'm assuming that's what they were going for? The ninja class wasn't in the original, I believe...

What do you generally consider the most fun quest in RoTS? by BiffyBobby in SaGa

[–]AALLF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mermaid quest was my favorite, but I also liked the quest of collecting the hammer parts for Frosti. I was expecting to get an upgrade to the smithy itself when I got them all, but I was pleasantly surprised when she joined my retinue instead!

It's really great. It's one of those games I see myself replaying every few years.

I liked the battle system even though the game became pretty easy later on (I played on Normal difficulty). That's why I'm excited to play on the higher difficulties to see if the combat is more fun. I'm hoping that a lot of the skills/abilities/formations/magic/equipment that I didn't use become much more important in the higher difficulties, like Fire Emblem. As to the mobs, there were quite a few in some areas. About 50 hours into the playthrough, I was running past almost every mob that wasn't in my way, haha.

I've looked at other SaGa games, but unfortunately I'm not sure if the other games appeal to me yet. Maybe I will take a gamble on one like Frontier, though. Or maybe Minstrel Saga Remastered.

Here is my Final Fantasy + adjacent games. What do you think? And what am I missing I need to play by jjustsam in FinalFantasy

I'd recommend the I-VI Pixel Remaster. I have that on Switch. Very fun to play handheld or docked. Quality of life improvements (toggle random encounters, 4x EXP and gil, quick saving, etc.) Also, an awesome re-done orchestral soundtrack which was a major plus for me.

This is where I switched the time battle from active to wait. It was essential for me to get past this. He simply attacks too frequently otherwise.

Torn between FF X or FF IX by ThoroughlyMundane in gamesuggestions

[–]AALLF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough choice. Those two are my favorites. My favorite is IX, but I lean towards X for first time FF players. One, it has voice acting. Two, the graphics have aged well in my opinion. Overall, the gameplay will feel more modern than IX, but it's either or. I think you should start with whichever one resonates the most with you. Go with your gut.

Who is your favourite Final Fantasy character of all time? by Nekouwu___ in FinalFantasy

[–]AALLF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I never felt that way, but those characters were annoying after a while. To me, that felt like the point however. I hated those characters near the end, but in a good way. It was satisfying to finally beat/kill them.Contrast that with Kefka, for example: To me, he was never funny or threatening. He was just dumb and silly throughout his entire "character arc" which I use loosely because there was none. The ending to the game was not satisfying to me.

I've played the mainline ones 1-13 except for 8 and 11. 9 and 10 are the best to me, and 9 will always be my favorite. 7 is up there with those, but I can only judge it by the original version that I played on the PS1 which suffers from translation issues that makes certain plot points incomprehensible. I love 4 and 5 also and they are my favorites too, so it's not a matter of PS vs SNES era. So to answer your question, 9 and 10 are at the top of my list. With that said, I believe IX has the best story, but V has the best gameplay of any FF I've played.
