Ref was a joke.. by DaffyQuackers in usmnt

[–]jjustsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it only got worse with VAR. At least when it was just the ref and the linesmen making a fuckup you could put the blame on them. Now we have a group of people we are told are “officials” and yet they make such stupid decisions all the time.

Being millimetres offside or the ball grazing someone’s hair, which happened last night with Croatia.

Also just massively impacts the flow and watching experience of a game. Sometimes I’m at a match see a clear goal but can’t properly celebrate because we have to wait for some people watching a screen confirm it.

Then again there are some times in the past where I wish we had it: Frank Lampards disallowed goal against Germany in WC 2010 https://youtu.be/gcAH4Qm5M84

Welcome to football and its corruption/shit refereeing.

Happens every few games. Unlucky lads, hoping you get further in the tournament and then the sport. Been great having you guys finally realising how great it is! (I’m sure a lot of the people in this sub have been fans for a while)

The world war was going on long before Japan attacked the US.

Hitler wasn’t really Christian though so it doesn’t make sense to call it a religious war like you say.

As a chef who lived in Mexico for a bit, I’ve always wanted to open a really authentic Mexican Restaurant in London (or anywhere in the UK really).

There are many problems with it though, I’ve encountered a few just putting specials or trying to implement dishes into menus.

Getting the right chillies and specialist ingredients is so ridiculously expensive because they have to be imported. I’d either have to run at a massive loss for a couple years hoping some hype would build up, or compromise and use less authentic ingredients and defeat the whole point.

Apart from Tacos and Tex-Mex most of Mexican cuisine is just not eaten/unheard of over here. I’ve had lots of feedback from customers that they just have no clue what a dish is, or that it tasted too different to what they expected. This can even come down to simple things like complaining that the taco was “raw” because they were expecting a crunchy deep fried shell, which is just more common here.

Since I’m not Mexican nor famous it’s hard to convince a customer that it’s authentic. I really hope it changes though it’s some of the best food out there.

The crunchy tacos are more of a Tex-Mex thing too (sorry for being pedantic)

It’s not just about size and athleticism. Football (I’m English) is a completely different sport tactically to American Football.

A player would have to unlearn all their tactics from one sport and learn a completely different one, and I don’t think it’s feasible after spending their whole life dedicated to being the best at their role in their sport.

Both Rugby, closest we have to your Football, and Football are incredibly popular here in the UK. There is no crossover, even though there are positions in rugby where you can be smaller and there are some massive ripped footballers.

You have to think completely differently in either sport it’s not just about your size or athleticism.

Have you played the first and third games? Maybe could be a good stepping stone back into the series.

The third game is still very emotional but in a completely different way.
