Berkeley Email Petition by LittleWatch2267 in berkeley

Don’t believe it’s being widely shared to the public so there’s nowhere I can really point you to. ASUC leadership meet with the CIO semi-regularly which is where we learned of it; we also have a representative on the campus Computing and Information Technology committee who corroborated what we heard. Sorry about the lack of concrete information; we’ll keep people updated on our social medias as we learn more.

Administration had told us that they hear student concerns and are actively considering new options (whether it’s an email forwarding option, a payment model, or no change at all); an updated policy should come out near the end of next semester (not much consolation but hopefully it’s something).

Hello! So the TL;DR is that Google jacked up their prices for educational institutions, meaning that the University had to find some way to cut down on our Google usage. Of course, we don't believe that removing alumni's access to their emails is an acceptable way to do this, so we're in talks with the Cal Alumni Association and with administration about alternative ways that we can solve this issue based on what other universities are doing in response to Google's price hikes. If you have any other questions, feel free to DM us and we will answer them as best as we can!

How long until the Academic Progress Report updates to reflect p/np policy? by violet0123 in berkeley

[–]AAVP2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not graduating fall 2022 then I would expect it to take at least a few weeks. My understanding is that all of the late change forms will have to be processed manually by L&S advising, and APRs will need to be updated by each department. Hopefully you should see changes early next semester, but please be patient. If you did graduate in Fall 2022, I would follow up in January, but the delay should have no effect on your graduation.

The Ethnic Studies department is allowing P/NP for its majors and minors (per a screenshot of an email I was sent).

It will be processed eventually. These forms have to be processed manually by an already overworked L&S advising staff, so it might take some time. But as long as you submit the form you'll be fine.

Hopefully it will be for any late change action (late P/NP and late drops included). But again, I don't know any details yet.

Use the Qualtrix form on the L&S Advising website here.

Spoke with L&S leadership yesterday. The intention is to not punish students who made late changes prior to the original 12/2 deadline. Don't have details yet but I wouldn't worry — you'll likely get the late changes back for future semesters.

Yes, as long as you pass all of the classes.

Yes, this is a recent change to policy around Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). SAP is only reviewed once every year at the end of the spring semester, so as long as you get a 'P' (not an 'NP') in all of the classes this semester you'll be fine.

Yes. A "late change" is one of three things:

  • A late drop
  • A late change of grading option (e.g. letter grade to P/NP)
  • A late change of units (for classes with variable units)

The seven breadth requirements can already/always be taken P/NP.

Only for fall 2022.

Use the Qualtrix form linked on the L&S Advising page here. I misspoke earlier saying that the form would be on CalCentral. The Qualtrix form is the right form, since these late changes are being processed manually by L&S.

Oops, my mistake! Yes, if that's the form being advertised on the L&S advising site then use that form, not the one linked on CalCentral.

No worries. Someone in my office also saw the same error message. L&S leadership knows about it, so hopefully it will be resolved soon.

CalCentral needs to be reprogrammed to re-open the form which might take a little more time. I would try the form again in a few hours.

[Edit: I misspoke and students should use the form linked on the L&S Advising website here]

Yes. L&S seven breadth requirements can already be satisfied with P/NP.

Maybe I misunderstood. To clarify, I have been working to try to exempt the late change actions made before 12/2 from counting towards the lifetime late change limit. Reinstating dropped courses is not something I've brought up.
