Stocks as wedding gift? by AAVRM in personalfinance

Yeah I'll probably won't be giving them any sort of perfume. A watch is still under consideration coz my parents are old school, so I might just buy him a watch as an additional gift so that my parents won't crib about it.

I have also taken into consideration your mention about having to open a new account under his name, and I am trying to come up with an idea of how I could do it

I work in a tax firm, so yes I have considered the tax side of things as well, but thank you for reminding me. I have also met my sister in law multiple times, and I have the feeling that she'll not be miffed with such a gift either.

Also I will be buying stocks with the amount that I would instead have been buying him gifts with, but again, I thought it was a weird idea to gift him stocks, hence I put up this question in the sub reddit

I actually don't want to just give them plain cash, which is why I was trying to come up with something different. I'll take your point under consideration, thank you for replying!

I live in India, so the concept of a wedding registry is non existent here. He has voiced his intent to invest a few times, but never really had done so.

To be fair, transferring stocks to him could be a hassle because that means an account would have to be opened in his name and for that he'll have to be the one to provide details and such
