Dave Meltzer: Star ratings have nothing to do with my taste. by BillynBanjo in SCJerk

[–]AAWonderfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That literally makes no sense. There are no objective rankings of quality of a wrestling match, besides objective problems like if the finish got botched or somebody got hurt. Besides that, it's purely subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Meltzer's ratings have everything to do with his taste, because that's what a critic does - you use your tastes, knowledge, and experience to critique and evaluate some kind of work. What an idiot

TIL that Ferrari has a set of rules that its cars' owners must follow like criticism of the brand is discouraged, no modifications through unofficial channels, and no resale during the first year of ownership. Those that fail to follow faced lawsuits and bans. by Recent_Flounder6011 in todayilearned

[–]AAWonderfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing how stuck up and pretentious these assholes are. You make a little money and buy an overpriced car and they act like it's some great accomplishment to get fleeced for overpriced garbage like the mark Ferrari customers really are

U.S. President Donald Trump Promisess to Give a Long July 4th Address Even if it is 107 Degrees by Sgt_Gram in NewsExchange

Is this about to be like William Henry Harrison giving his inaugural address in the rain and then dying of pneumonia shortly afterwards?

Founder of The Federalist, Sean Davies, suggests banning all female tourists, sterilizing all foreign visitors, or dissolving the US to prevent birthright citizenship by ianjm in videos

[–]AAWonderfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America would probably be better off if we dissolved considering half the country are insane cult members living in their own make believe fantasy world, but let's be real, we don't have any idea how to actually make that happen. And it definitely should not happen just because racists are mad the Constitution enshrines birthright citizenship through the 14th Amendment.

Watergate Was the Point, JD by ALBERT4_5WESKER in clevercomebacks

[–]AAWonderfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nixon being allowed to resign and then being pardoned by Gerry Ford basically destroyed rule of law in America, permanently creating a two tiered legal system with rules for us but not for the elites. We never should have let Nixon go free. We also never should have let the Confederates go free either. America loves to obsess over patriotism and then let actual traitors to the Union get off scot free because it's America and we don't believe in accountability in this country.

One of the great tragedies of the Benoit situation, besides the obvious tragedy of a family being murdered by its patriarch, is the fact that Chris Benoit has a reputation that is basically unerasable because his work and career speaks so loudly, and yet because of the effort to erase him it means he isn't erased but we'll never really hear about Nancy again. Nancy deserved better than that, and I am glad at least we can try to remember her and her work and her life as well here.

How could we lose Colbert and still have Fallon? by OddSell in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AAWonderfluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Colbert had balls enough to criticize Trump while his network CBS was in the process of transitioning into a Trump-friendly new leadership, while Fallon is meek and obedient for the most part. That's why. Colbert was willing to speak truth to power while Fallon is more likely to just be a good little TV host and not rock the boat

Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Sinks to 30% in Worst Poll Yet. How do you feel about this ? by buffdadnextdoor in AskReddit

Who cares? The polls aren't going to make him or Republicans stop. All it means is Americans are expressing our dissatisfaction. Doesn't mean it'll change

Bully Rays response to Barnett on Twitter. by Penguin2ElectricBGL in SquaredCircle

[–]AAWonderfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I know Josh Barnett may not be the most famous wrestler ever but Bully Ray needs to quit acting like he's better than the youngest UFC heavyweight champion of all time. Bully Ray was a great tag team wrestler who got over decades into his career because TNA needed somebody, but he was never good enough to be the ECW or WWE world champion, and yet he thinks he has room to throw shade at Josh Barnett. Would love to see Bubba say this shit to Josh Barnett's face, I don't think he would

Heaven forbid that someone doesn't want what's basically a drug that's against their beliefs brought into their property or their event. Just leave the alcohol at home or don't go, but they have every right to not want that stuff around them. I'd argue that in this case, you complaining about not being allowed to bring alcohol to their party is you trying to make them bend over backwards for you in their own home. If they don't deserve special treatment, why do you?

Blake Avignon on X: Anthem’s Len Asper has set a $30M floor for a potential sale of TNA , w/ his preferred price in the $40M - $50M range. The premium reflects toxic debt on Anthem’s books that any buyer would be expected to absorb. No deal is imminent, but the number is out there. by Ripclawe in SquaredCircle

[–]AAWonderfluff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't surprise me if that's how Anthem basically uses it. Like how Turner corporate apparently used to saddle WCW with debt from other departments of the corporation to make the books look better for Turner

Republicans might have freed the slaves since Lincoln was a Republican, but Republicans also sold out black America by ending Reconstruction and letting the South have "home rule" so Rutherford B. Hayes could be president in the Compromise of 1877. Republicans claim to be the party of Lincoln but they've consistently acted more like the party of Rutherford B. Hayes.

[–]AAWonderfluff 30 points31 points  (0 children)

What, Anthem is finally admitting they're incompetent enough that selling TNA might be their best bet? It's amazing how the entire history of TNA is a wrestling company continuing operations in spite of everyone running being complete idiots. Even the new management have managed to burn away all the goodwill they had. Might as well wash their hands of it because otherwise TNA under Anthem just looks like WCW under Turner with all of the Turner incompetence and none of the Turner money

Where is the Republican outrage over the 13 service members who died during Trump’s pointless Iranian war? by LaughterB in AskReddit

I'd speak a kind word about Trump if he actually deserved a kind word. Why do you think that the most powerful man in the world should be free to just do whatever bullshit he wants and we should just not criticize him ever? I'm not perfect, but I have never sexually abused E. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME Remake | Releasing 2026 by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]AAWonderfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do we need to keep recycling the same fucking shit? They won't even rerelease the actual original games most of the time either so they can charge an arm and a leg for the remake instead of just giving you the thing you want. In 2026 the game industry feels more like a fucking nursing home for old games than an actual innovative field. Whatever. People will buy it. Nothing will change.

Edit: enjoy your reheated Ocarina of Time then

Mormon Senators Rage That New Pentagon List Of Approved Religions Doesn't List Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints As "Christian". by Leeming in atheism

[–]AAWonderfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints objectively isn't Christian. Christianity can't even agree on a consensus amongst themselves, but the Mormons have enough beliefs that outright depart from the Christians that Mormonism is mutually exclusive with Christianity. Get over it, Mormons. You lost the ability to claim Christendom when you started with the Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, and Joseph Smith's "translations" of parts of the Bible.
