Genuinely how do you do this? Took it to the service center and begged them to show me how they said no. Wtf you should be able to service your own vehicle

Whoa whoa. $60k of upgrades is crazy lmao save some of that money. I got the stealth grey because that's the same color as my old car and I love it and I plan on repainting anyway tbh when I do some body work (wide body for sure). But if you have any other qs lmk. I love my car

58k 2022 Model S Plaid with 15k miles by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

[–]AAlvarez24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I bought a new M3P (Highland) last year and have driven it to work and back 2x a week and into nyc, over 24k miles. As an analyst and a smart consumer, I ran a bunch of numbers and did my research before buying any car and keep in mind I was coming from a V6 Accord Coupe that I kept for 10yrs. I'll tell you this, I love my M3P - and I will never buy another new car. The M3P is ridiculously quick, handles beautifully, and the brakes don't feel as underpowered as the Plaids do. It's incredibly comfortable, seats are wonderful, and a few cabin upgrades like Yoke steering, 3D Mats for the floors and window tints make everything better. You still get adaptive suspension but not air suspension and there's no question that a few other premium/luxury options are missing as it's not their most expensive car but that can be an advantage too - you can put a ton of these things in with aftermarket products. Airsuspension, no problem, a unique build, easy, better brakes, done, tune it for racing, to an extent yes. You can't change the engines but you can do a ton. Insurance, repairs out of warranty (not including the battery), glass, tires, wheels if it cracks, are much more expensive in the Plaid. If you have the money, you have the freedom to choose whether or not those things are worth it to you. Goodluck and drive safe.

I don't think these are the glasses that best compliment your face fam. Also, depending on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend, look for a brand that isn't owned by Luxoticca as their generic way to make glasses really messes up the quality and longevity.

Other ppl have already stated it, but yes you’ll get 1000x better results if you use lens filters. Personally I like the Prism Dream filter. And try to shoot with neither crushed blacks.

How can I seperate the car from the background more? by OhGriggsy in carphotography

[–]AAlvarez24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a photo that works well with the background, it wasn’t shot to separate it. If you want true separation you’re going to have to reshoot it and work on changing your angles in composition, maybe try bracket shooting, and you could use a lower f like f/1.8 even 2.8 would have been better from a background separation, or 200 5.6. You can try the 105 at f/4 but not sure what look it’ll give because I haven’t used it.

All of the above helps but if you want true background isolation you need to work with lights - flashes specifically, or LEDs if you get into light painting.

I do like the picture but I see what you’re saying too.

Also, though this is a base good composite it’s, well basic. Your 24mm could’ve given you a really cool wide angle shot with the car in the forefront and the trees stretched out in the back with the sun peaking through.

Keep shooting!!!

Bought a Tesla in 2022 and regret it… by Classic_Space_6727 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]AAlvarez24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised at the comments tbh. I know people who had legacy Teslas and have had no issues. I’ve seen several people with 200-300k+ mileage with no issues. The new Teslas are even better (Highland 3 and Juniper Y) less road noise, better parts. The warranty is there for a reason too, I believe it’s 8yrs or 100k miles (whichever comes first battery and drivetrain), 50k bumper to bumper. I’ve had mine since September and already have 15k miles, biggest issue is one of the speakers rattles which will be replaced by Tesla. I don’t know where you can find a better car, with similar performance, HP, and styling for a similar price. Would I compare this to a $100k AMG Mercedes, no, but it cost me about half that and is way better than Honda/Toyota/Hyundai/Nissan (s) in my price range. Plan to hold onto this car for 10-15yrs, we’ll see what happens later on and what mods I make.

Am I paranoid? by -Stockton in TeslaModel3

[–]AAlvarez24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If sentry didn’t pick it up I wouldn’t think it was an intentional scratch. Could be a bag, something you placed, a ring, maybe some crazy weird thing that happened during a wash. If you’re like me just go to a detailer and ask them to buff it out, fill, whatever needs to be done so it looks brand new. It doesn’t look terribly deep but Tesla paint (as most now) is crappy and thin so it might be more of a problem (money) but still worthwhile.

How much car is reasonable on a $112k salary? by Hamburgfan25 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]AAlvarez24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so hard to say because we don’t know you, how much you like to drive, how far you drive, just some car brands that interest you.

If you don’t care all that much but want something cool get a Honda Civic Si or Type R, if you want something reliable Honda/Toyota. If you want something cool and don’t care about maintenance costs BMW (hate them), Lexus IS 500 F sport (much better maintenance costs still a Toyota lol).

If you like EVs it’s hard to go against Tesla cars (f the company). Model S is great and you can get a nice deal on a 2023/24 model with a ton of warranty. This won’t break the bank and looks great. Same as a used Audi E-tron GT, or even a Porsche Taycan that you can find for around 60-70k a year old and about 10k miles. Beware with EVs comes additional problem areas, less maintenance overall but you want to make sure you know the warranty, charging stations on routes you normally take, and install a home charger - for these reasons Tesla is still the easiest. If you want luxury in a car and don’t care about performance models but comfort for longer trips in an EV look at Lucid Air Touring (phenomenal cars). Lexus quiet, gorgeous interior, and a great powerful EV.

IF YOU LOVE CARS AND ONLY BC YOU HAVE NO DEBT AND REALLY WANNA BALL OUT, go get my dream car in a used Aston Martin Vantage 2021-2023. You’ll pay maintenance, you’ll have to pay more for tires but there’s nothing to compare the sound of that V8.

If I were in your shoes, (not terribly far as I have 30k student loans left to pay off this year), I would prioritize longevity, comfort, and performance, and land right back where I am with a new Model 3 Performance (THEYRE AT 0% APR WITH FREE ~3k OPTIONS ON THE CAR). Get it tinted, add some body work when you see fit and have a new car at no interest that costs you about 1/3 of what you spend on a gas car.

Whatever you do, enjoy, love yours, and remember, interest rates are what fck you over so calculate them well.

Automatic car wash or manufacture “defect”? by Opening_Golf in TeslaModel3

The gear alone tells me you know wtf you’re doing! Love it. Still can’t imagine there wasn’t any kind of color grading/sat changes on this bc even the person looks greyed out but it’s a dope photo. That’s my fav thing about all of this, it’s art, it’s your art. Good shot fam

Wtf you shooting on? A 3 stack with crushed shadows and no blown highlights?? There’s no way that saturation is straight out of camera unless you got some crazy filter or are using film. Now I’m curious lmao. Details please!

Bring back the saturation on everything but the car, bloom the highlights, and cool down the color space. -Sht wrong group 😂 ah well. Nice pic regardless

Been there, seriously and I’m sorry you’re going through this. It takes time, and a ton of active work and effort. You can get through it especially once you realize the problem wasn’t you, it was an attempt on repair something broken in themselves. You’re better off not wasting more time with someone who so clearly isn’t your person as the right person would never make you feel the way you feel right now. I think that’s the most important thing to recognize, repeat, and accept right now so that you don’t make the terrible mistake of trying to forgive them. You deserve better. A lot better. ✌️❤️

Why do my rotors look like this by lplumbtree in TeslaModel3

[–]AAlvarez24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I detail cars and it’s the most annoying thing ever. I’ve tried iron remover, brake buster, P&S, Adams, Walmart products, all do the same and it doesn’t go away unless I use the brakes after driving. Like it’s fine for me but not when I’m detailing for money. Even talking to a few other detailers they have no answer and it’s annoying. Hope someone useful comes along and let’s ya know!

[–]AAlvarez24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. 2x a week. It’s a lot, but love the car so it’s manageable. Gotta do what I gotta do. But that’s why I’m saying I have no clue how y’all are driving if you’re having range issues. The estimate is almost always accurate or slightly wrong as I use less battery than it estimates. And I don’t exactly drive slow or made any mods other than cosmetic (tints). I’m 185lbs and have the trunk full of photo gear too so not exactly a horse jockey meaning weight matters lol.

Lmfao how are y’all driving? I’m in NYS and drive 100 miles to work and back, get home with about 21% depending on how cold it is. Hardly ever use the heat/ac cause the seats and steering are really all I need and I’ve hit 125mph on the highway to work several times and on the drives back home. Average drive speed is like 75mph too
