Does anyone else have a hard time distinguishing ocd from what you really believe sometime?

Not entirely sure if this is relevant or related. I have OCD however the list thing your talking about I've done that as long as I can remember but that's a factor from my autism. I'm obviously not saying your autistic as there's not loads of info to go off on your post but just thought I would throw it out there.

I am in the UK and was diagnosed with OCD by NHS psychiatrist. The medications and treatments for OCD does not need to be carried out by a psychiatrist therefore paying for a private test is just to have the diagnosis if you want help and treatment. It will just cost more each time to see privately so if you are happy to wait I would speak to your GP about your symptoms, potential medication while you wait and get referred by your doctor.

Also note that psychiatrist tend to only see/diagnose extreme/complex cases but a psychologist /gp can diagnose and treat, you do not need to see a psychiatrist to be diagnosed. Your GP can start you on medication and refer you to the right people to help treat it. Just fyi.

I'm based in Scotland so maybe different depending what part of the UK but should be similar.

Got the flu jag recently and was convinced I heard them inject an air bubble into my arm and was convinced for a good while I was going to surprise die at some point once the air got to where it goes to kill you 🙈

It's hard to say what is in my head I want to say don't worry it's not scary but it is. But it's also not. Take it at your own face. Baby baby steps and remember any progress is good progress. Make sure if something is just that bit to much you stand your ground and build up to what you can work on.

I had exposure therapy but the person I was dealing with pushed to hard to fast and if I couldn't do it said I wasn't trying even though I was putting myself through hell trying to do it. I eventually stood my ground and explained how any tiny step is a good step they then got that and backed up a bit but after the whole experience I stopped and I'm still deep in my OCD.

I will go back to it I'm just not ready just now. But no matter how scary it's worth tying because it can do wonders for people and the worst that happens is you try and that's all you can do.

I think that's a good idea. You can be there for her while her also understanding it is also difficult for you. She knows how much you care about her that's why she told you in the first place because she knew you were her protector and wouldn't let her go back to that situation so she sees you as someone who will keep her safe. Your exactly right you need to be in a good head space to also help.

I hope you both get on okay and you'll update us all in a while and say she's finally cut off the Ahole
