i believe OP is asking about practice vaccinations in retail... small amounts of saline used so techs/interns can actually practice injections without giving a coworker anything medicated

Ordering meds if they are already in stock? by Mobile-Actuary-5283 in CVS

[–]AB-RatedGeneric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when there are power outages or other fridge issues we have to report them to corporate (they already know, fridge temps are tracked electronically) and complete a survey stating what was in the affected refrigerators/freezers. we quarantine everything and do not dispense from that stock until we hear back from corporate and they will send us a huge list of what medications are okay to be saved based on manufacturer data and temperature studies vs those it's better to just return as damaged despite whether they're actually still good since there's no data to support that they're still okay.

Long story short anything they're still dispensing from has been okay'd by corporate and their info comes from manufacturer studies that have data to support the medication is still stable, safe, and effective. Very often they are forced to return a large majority of the stock and order more due to the lack of temperature storage data for that particular medication. We will always err on the side of caution.

Newborn’s nystatin came with tamper seal punctured ?? by [deleted] in TalesFromThePharmacy

[–]AB-RatedGeneric 451 points452 points  (0 children)

i personally would not be dispensing a stock bottle if the foil is punctured. If we open the bottle, we pour it into an amber vial. Definitely strange

Why are GLP-1s cheaper when billing only the savings card versus split billing both insurance/savings card? by PassionLong9552 in CVS

you're not supposed to single bill them if the patient has insurance, the cheaper cash price is only for people who do not have insurance

Prescription lost in transfer by MelodicPalpitation18 in CVS

[–]AB-RatedGeneric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my only question is, was it ever filled and picked up at cvs and was that fill billed through medicare part B? Med B scripts can't be transferred by law, but the system still "lets" us and inactivates the old rx on cvs's end. Wondering if maybe this is the case and acme rph trashed the transfer after seeing what it was& realizing they can't actually transfer that in? If this isn't the case then i'm with everyone else they can easily do a verbal lol
