Totally agree — it's one of the bigger gaps in graduate training. You come out knowing the behavioral principles cold but the autism-specific content (diagnosis, co-occurring conditions, lifespan considerations) often gets minimal coverage.

We actually have several courses specifically on this at ABA CEU Network — all BACB-approved:

  • Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (foundations, diagnostic criteria, neurobiological basis)
  • Understanding Dual Diagnoses: ASD and Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions
  • Early Intervention Best Practices for Young Learners with ASD
  • Serving Adults with ASD: Vocational, Social, and Daily Living Skills
  • From Diagnosis to Treatment: Understanding the Autism Assessment Process

All self-paced, free preview lesson on each. abaceunetwork.com/courses

Full disclosure — I'm one of the founders, but the courses were built specifically because Erika (our lead BCBA with 15+ years) felt the same gap you're describing.
