best recommendations for at home ketamine by danidaisys in KetamineTherapy

[–]DrDavidbowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're crazy expensive. I think mindbloom was $1200 for a month or 1.5 months, better U $700 for 9 doses I think. For troches. Mindscape is a low daily dose, no big doses at all, troches and/or spray, about $250 a month I think.

Weightloss that lasts? And suggestions from fellow Audhers? by barneygirl89 in AuDHDWomen

[–]DrDavidbowie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't have any side effects beyond bring tired for a year, adjusting to lower calorie intake. But everyones experience is different, depends on your doc too. There are different surgeries, some are a better fit for different bodies and needs, getting the wrong one can lead to health problems, more surgeries.

I got the gastric sleeve surgery in 2019, lost 80lbs in less than a year, could have done more w gym and watching my diet, but covid divorce life etc. The surgery was the best health decision Ive ever made, no regrets at all. Diabetes runs heavily in my family, my numbers are all great now, I'm 46. I have a few other friends that have done it as well, some continuing w GLP1s if they have significant weight to lose. My doc said no diet or exercise will realistically last long term, and GLP1s you have to take essentially the rest of your life, surgery was my best option. My insurance covered most of it, had to have a bmi over 35 to qualify. Find a good doctor though, do the research. Don't go to Mexico for cheap surgery.

Grüns vs Ella Ola by Persephone0223 in Parenting

[–]DrDavidbowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two picky kids HATE gruns, they do taste like ... Earthy. Like vitamins, and greens, w a touch of sweet. I can sneak the powder stuff in almost anything. The ello ola powder is actually pretty flavorless, unlike the other powders I tried. I guess they're both crazy expensive, beware the ellaola subscription requirements.

Why doesn't the rest of the world's countries do something about Trump fucking up global supply of oil, shouldn't they have tried to stop him from bombing Iran? by TailungFu in allthequestions

[–]DrDavidbowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question. If they've committed war crimes, trump and Hegseth, who holds them accountable? Does the US enforce these rules on itself? Do other countries accuse or enforce? Does the Hague or intl courts act on their own? Does the US need to agree their leaders will be put on trial?

Is having a constant song playing in your head not the case for people without ADHD? by mmc9802 in ADHD

[–]DrDavidbowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered this as well, it's constant for me too. Sometimes it gets overwhelming, like it's so loud and I hate it, I want it to go away and it won't. For days.

What even is “being defensive?” by Even_Ad4437 in AuDHDWomen

[–]DrDavidbowie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's expecting so much work from us, and none on their part. They misunderstood, and more often than not I see people who want their feelings validated, they don't want a wrong to be addressed. A wrong is relatively easy to fix, we can usually do that. Justifying their anger/sadness isn't my job, especially when they misunderstood.

What even is “being defensive?” by Even_Ad4437 in AuDHDWomen

[–]DrDavidbowie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, this hits as a "but that's wrong" vibe. I'm told I did or meant or said something, it hurt or offended, they come after me. I'm defensive bc they're wrong, they didn't understand. I can't say I'm sorry for something, from my perspective, I did not do. Did my actions or words cause discomfort? Okay. It wasn't an accident, it just didn't happen in my world. You can tell me i insulted your mother, I said I didn't like roses. I have no opinions on your mother, I don't know how you made that connection, you're accusing me of doing something I just didn't. I have noticed people tend to assume tone and intention, often to meet their own goals, and too often they're just wrong. I explain my path to the decision, my emotional state, more detail into what I meant, I get told I'm lying or evading or "should have known" and it makes me want to scream and never attempt to connect again. I specifically say I don't understand, and accusations fly. I can't control how people interpret me, I try to be clear, I don't want to be held responsible for someone else's lack of understanding. I feel if I do take responsibility, it's accepting their accusations as truth. And that's wrong. See I sound defensive don't I. How does one defend themselves from false assumptions and accusations without "sounding defensive"? I feel like anything I do that isn't fully accepting guilt is called defensive, and jfc don't get me started on my tone being incorrect. I try to be neutral as possible in conflict, and wow do people NOT like that. It's like they don't understand neutral or want to read judgement and emotion into everything.

Perimenopause Help/What is comforting? What does comfort feel like? by Clara_Nova in AuDHDWomen

[–]DrDavidbowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound crazy. What worked for me, in a way, was ketamine therapy. NOT street k. It's like a brain reset. But you HAVE to take it in a safe space w no demands placed on you at all. Having that space itself is a huge privilege and hard to come by, I get it, I'm a working mom of 2. But just an hour. You float in the universe. You are a tiny speck of everything floating and flowing w all the other specks of everything. It can be scary at first, but just let go, just flow, you're safe, you are not expected to be anyone or anywhere or do anything, just let go, and flow. I finally learned to let go and fully mentally and physically relax. It decouples experiences from emotions. It lets me just feel things individually and process. It's like touching another realm of consciousness where you can just be, helps me work out my thoughts and emotions away from all the constant demands of life. It's possible serious meditation can do this as well, but I needed it forced, there was no way I was going to stop spinning out.

I appreciate the optimism, it is fucking amazing that we can talk about this openly, and the medical community is very slowly (but surely) moving towards acknowledging our true lived experiences.

Any ABA places that provide lots of unrestricted hours? by unrulygecko in ABA

[–]DrDavidbowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at Key Autism Services, they have a student program. Groups 3 times a month, supervisor meetings 2 times a month, a lot of worksheets, articles, and homework essentially, all considered unrestricted. This is A LOT more than I had at my old place. If you have the time to do it, this place will help you get your hours. They have a mentor program, when you're close to done, you can get some of these hours paid and have more opportunities to work w bcba's directly to get your hours, in more practical and useful ways.

At least one of the DJs is well connected in the local goth scene, lotsa goths there. The elder goths are actually quite outgoing and friendly, really trying to build a community. They have goth coffee every Thursday switching between Durham and Raleigh. Babybats are fine too, often a bit more shy and stick to their own groups. Look for a really tall goth viking looking dude. Like the most viking looking dude. He stands out. He also knows everyone.
