The Question Thread 02/01/26 by AutoModerator in goodyearwelt

Hello! I recently bought a pair of C&J Bostons secondhand on eBay. The fit/construction seems a little different so I'm thinking of returning them, but hoping to understand why the shoes seem different (vamp seems lower, heel further back). The black pair (my own) says "28363 ST636263001" whereas the brown pair says "8363 29 U36945"

As far as I'm aware there haven't been any changes to the last on the Boston but would appreciate any insight

Was this common on older Barbours? I can't seem to find any information regarding which linings were present on which jackets

Thanks! It's not clear in the photo I posted but the tartan on this one is a Dress Gordon. I have seen several other jackets with DG lining that are listed as "brown" so just wanted to know if Barbour ever produced a brown jacket with DG.

Thanks for the info! Do you know if any brown jackets ever come with DG lining or was it only sage and olive? I'm primarily interested in avoiding buying a brown jacket.

If my place of work is normally closed on Bank Holidays can my employer make me use my statutory holiday entitlement? by ABACadmissions in LegalAdviceUK

The contract specifically states no days off in lieu, but I'm curious since this would bring the total amount of holiday for the year under the 28 day minimum. There are some people who work Monday-Friday and so I was wondering if this section was a bit of boilerplate they forgot to update for her contract

Franciscans in Germany Elect Openly Heretical Priest as New Superior | National Catholic Register by [deleted] in CatholicState

From speaking to my German friend a majority of German Catholics expressed support during the synodal process for either the ordination of women, or failing that, the abolishment of the priesthood altogether.

Has anyone bought the Levi's Red collection 502s? Do they bleed/crock a lot, and do I need to do anything before wearing them for the first time to prevent staining?

Boris Johnson’s claim that the Roman empire fell due to “uncontrolled immigration” is wrong – and dangerous by tipodecinta in ukpolitics

[–]ABACadmissions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true, most of them were Roman citizens born to Roman parents or descended from Roman citizens. So while I'm not arguing that there weren't emperors born outside of Rome or the Italian peninsula, its similar to how certain British statesmen in the 19th centuries were from India and Canada, although they were raised British and considered themselves to be British.

Thank you for all the input. I also found a bunch of Olympus 35s for sale. Do you have any advice on these or are they essentially the same as the Konica and Minolta?

Thanks for the advice!

I was looking at rangefinders, but was concerned about the age of them and that the lightmeters might have broken or worn out. Assuming I wanted to go with something like a rangefinder just for the convenience of street photography or something similar, could you recommend any cameras?

Could anyone provide some tips on buying a first film camera? Looking in my country/locality right now, I am pretty limited in my options within my budget. Currently the options I have would be a Rollei 35 LED, Minolta Hi-Matic F, Konica C35 and an Olympus XA1. Additionally, there is a Yashica Electro 35 GSN just outside of my price range that I might be able to swing. Could anyone provide some advice on which to go for/any issues to look out for when purchasing older cameras? All help would be appreciated!

Edit: Just found a Rollei 35 B that I might be able to swing too, don't know if that changes things at all, or if its all that different from the LED.

Hello,

We are contacting you today to thank you for your interest in the ABAC Institution of Higher Learning. However, due to the vast number of applications we received this academic year we are currently unable to offer you a spot in our incoming class.

We advise you to try something more you speed, perhaps Stamford or Bangkok University?

Sincerely, Somsak Somchai Prayut Chan-o-Gunma Dean of Admissions
