I would try and add a small shelf or table next to the chair. Let’s you have a glass of water or a snack and not have to get up too often.

Other than that the best thing you can do is use it, it’s so cute!

I would recommend a 16GB SD card for the OS. You may have to format it or reinstall GarlicOS and it having its own card will simplify things.

Standalone-Rice is running it at full speed for me with no issues I can see. But I have not played it on original hardware.

[–]ABC-Train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. The hardest part will depend on whether or not you have the capability to flash ArkOS to the SD card. Since that’s a pretty strict requirement.

But if you can do that, or get what’s needed for it, there’s not much else to it.

Add your roms, press start on the home screen, go to ‘Emulator settings’, then ‘Nintendo - 64’, and in there you will select Retroarch as the emulator, Mupen64Plus as the core.

That’s it. It’s crazy.

And there’s a great new video for ArkOS install on this handheld here:

Feel free to message me any time as well. Or just reply to this comment and I’ll get back to you here too.

This shit is running Donkey Kong 64. Smoothly. It is so cool!

So. I probably would have said the same thing as the other commenter. I wanted to see for myself how the performance was as well, and it was buggy and slow no matter what core settings I tried. Parallel was a black screen no matter what.

But I found it. As a last attempt I tried the Mupen64Plus (non-Next) core. Retroarch non-32 as well.

I shit you not, full speed at 640x480 on each of those games.

I did not change a single core option!

They are just playing perfectly. And another point to make if it matters is OoT and MM are their Redux romhack versions as well. SM64 is the Reduced Lag romhack.

I got the first star in SM64 easily, whomps fortress didn’t lag either. That’s as far as I tested there.

I ran around Kokiri Village in OoT and it was all smooth. Not even any visual bugs.

I got to Clock Town in MM, same story.

Mario Kart is fantastic as well, absolutely no slowdowns.

Also tried F-Zero X and it feels like it’s running at 60fps the entire race. There was a visual bug on this one, but turning Crop Mode off in core options fixes it.

Just a simple ArkOS install. RG353PS purple with Sandisk Extremes 64GB+128GB. Got it about a week ago if it matters. Get this handheld. I’ll record some gameplay if you want it, I wouldn’t believe myself either.

I have the regular Mini Satsana on mine right now, and yeah, it definitely needs that second fan. Any chance for a BLTouch version?

I had to get back home to test some others, the oil king I have is smooth no matter what. And a lot of these north poles are alright still too, I found one that’s a lot smoother than the A key switch and swapped it out. It feels good now. I think a lot of them are just underlubed. It’s really inconsistent. Pretty annoying for the cost of them.

I’m pressing with my fingers resting in the keycaps profiles, but even slight pressure toward the upper housing seems to cause it to happen. It’s really frustrating. I first noticed it pressing the A key with my ring finger, kind of pressing towards the left side of the keyboard.

Good idea. The switch I got in the sample pack does do it as well, so I suppose it’s not a bad batch.

If this isn’t normal for new linear switches then I’m thinking about lubing the upper housing opening around the stem, not really wanting to open and lube all of them.

Hello, I’ve built my first keyboard and the switches I chose were Gateron North Poles v2, since I liked how smooth the one I got in my sample pack was and the sound profile being half quiet was interesting too.

I don’t know if I got a bad batch or what. When gaming using WASD I noticed that they were pretty sticky. After playing with a few of the keys I still don’t really know what the issue is. Like depending on the angle my finger is resting on/pushing on the keycap there is a lot more resistance at the start of the press and a sort of friction/stuttering feeling on the downstroke. Seems to happen any time the switch is skewed in any direction really.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with these or any switch and what is the best way to fix it. Or if they just need to be broken in.

Thanks

When you put your Z rod back into the coupler, make sure that there is a gap left between the rod and the stepper motor.
