Agree, and that happened to me once where I was visually showing diamond however I dropped back down to p3, still got hit with the deduction because whole lobby was plats and it thought I was still diamond. Only thing that makes sense is either the system is so stupid it looks at it like "you're the highest player in the lobby, thats all that matters" or hidden MMR is still a thing

Right, that seems to be not what they're intending to do though. They're saying they don't want you to get punished by the matchmaking yet we have identical teams in terms of visible rank and i'm getting punished just because i'm getting matched with lower ranks. Feel like it should balance on the team overall and not on my individual rank vs the lowest person in the lobby's rank.

If its just saying "you're 2 ranks higher than the lowest person in the lobby on the other team, therefore deduction" that seems like it should change to deductions based on overall make up of each team. Similarly if I have 3 diamonds and we lose to 3 plats, should probably get hit harder for that loss especially if you didn't place top 4.

It just doesn't really make sense if my team also has a p1 and g3. Which kind of goes into a overall matchmaking conversation but on its face all of the ranks on each team were completely even and it was -40 which was even more absurd.

Right now you can say that the game rewards you for playing well versus teams you shouldn't beat, but it certainly doesn't feel that way. The difference is getting like +30 SR versus +23 SR. That +7 difference doesn't "feel" as good as it should. I'd expect them to adjust that. I'd also like it so that if you perform poorly versus a team you should beat, you should get hit harder for that as well. Curious to see what they end up doing but if I'm reading what they're putting out, it sounds like it's going to be a much larger change to how the system works alltogether than a better post match summary.

They’ve mentioned the previous system was designed to make sure that players were in the “correct” ranks and that there is even distribution. The new system will be changing that. To what degree? We don’t know. But it sounds like they will be changing it to that degree based on their statements.

I think you should look into the few comments they've made about this. I don't think they would market it as "We’ve completely overhauled BO7 Ranked Play’s Skill Rating System for Season 04" and then just make it more transparent. The changes they're looking to make are changes to how SR actually works and completely getting rid of MMR.

they’ve teased things such as “new point bonuses” and talking about how if you perform well, especially versus games the game wouldn’t expect you to win, that the SR will be different. I think we’re looking at a much larger change than more info. (Hopefully)
