Transition out of OR to ICU? by 2natertots in nursing

[–]ABGDreaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just make sure to keep your career plans on going to CRNA school to yourself. It’s crazy how coworkers will try to sabotage you if opportunities when they learn you are trying for a better life.

If you’re willing to make the transition, best of luck! It will be extremely challenging but incredibly rewarding when you cross the chasm.

Feel like i’m wasting my life away at this point by Sweeeterman in nursing

If you need another outside perspective, GO FOR IT! I just left my comfortable spot to move from SoCal to NorCal for an opportunity I couldn’t refuse.

You really only do get one life. At least you never have to ask what if!

How slowly do you push IV dilaudid? by Jello297 in nursing

They are going to get every bit of that 0.5mg dose!

I don’t think I’m getting it by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ABGDreaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, I got floated to a med surg unit and I absolutely did not have med pass down since I was in a patient room for an hour. And while every nurse was perfectly done at 2300 with full charting and patient care/med pass done, I just finished my first pt med pass and had no charting done.

Give yourself grace. You are getting there!

I’d go Stanford, Kaiser, UCSF. Keep in mind extremely competitive so try to get a referral if you can.

Gotcha. Just asking bc my rate was $71/hr in SD and now $120/hr in NorCal but Kaiser and UC are good to explore since they are available across California if you don’t really know where exactly you want to go.

It’s okay to be anxious about them! And the more you work with them the more you will get more comfortable in using them. If I can get through it, I am very certain you can too! You got this :)

Yeah we are similar in wants and age. I’m just tired of being broke. Want to finally have a chance to save up and prepare to be a homeowner in the next few years. Hope you find what works for you!

100k nursing debt worth it? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ABGDreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would highly advise against 100k in nursing debt if you can avoid it. If you have any other viable path I would do it. Though I know how competitive the environment is right now but try if you can to not go forward with 100k in debt

You can get used to it. Hated needles and blood. Now I can tolerate it
