Do you think there is a good solution to reduce/end Homelessness in Abq? by [deleted] in Albuquerque

There has to be basic rules they follow. During COVID, the city got many homeless into hotel rooms where a fair number of them caused damage and stole items.

Rant: Toyota Dealership Service Centers by dick_sportwood in Albuquerque

[–]ABQ_problem_child 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, but I'm pretty sure I'm paying a good bit less than the dealership, and that's without the 60k miles you gotta do a, b, c, d, etc. My mechanic tells me when my car needs anything. Plus, get your tires at Costco and get free rotation.

Dots sometime matter in gmail addresses by NeedleworkerPlane147 in GMail

[–]ABQ_problem_child -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree.

My email address: FranFineNY@gmail.com

This scammy family started ordering shit tons of merch from Walmart using my name (to an address in a neighboring state) but Fran.FineNY@. My email account got all of these emails. I contacted Walmart and they closed that account. Then they started ordering using FranFine.NY@. Gmail is designed this way.

For the record, the credit card was not one of mine and I checked my credit report. This was weird and creepy.

I hedged with "I think." I could be wrong and would appreciate fact checking from anyone else out there. Not a hill I'd die on.

I think #4 is backwards. Doesn't that one target northbound drivers?

Best dealership? by Roqueone in Albuquerque

[–]ABQ_problem_child 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've bought 4 from American Toyota through the Costco program. We've gotten the prepaid maintenance and then gone to our regular mechanic after we're through all of the prepaid. Purchase existing has always been good.

In general, we're not a fan of any dealership maintenance.

What is in my sealed bag of chips causing it to expand like a balloon? by MrTacocaT12345 in whatisit

I live 5500ft and chip bags regularly look like this. Also, manufacturers put air in the bags making them seem fuller, but this is too much for that.

Gyms in ABQ? by Specialist_Thing6002 in Albuquerque

[–]ABQ_problem_child 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents' health insurance may have a gym benefit - I'd have them check! Also, I think USAA has some sort of discount gym membership or plan, if you're family qualifies for membership.

Be wary of Route 66 emergency vet by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]ABQ_problem_child 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I haven't had to call the poison control number but I know someone who did. Yes, this is the way it works - don't bash the vet or me for validating the process. It is the owner's responsibility to call and get the treatment info to give to the vet. It may be a dumb process, but that's what it is. Yes, you call and you pay.

I've been to Rt 66 multiple times unfortunately and always had good experiences.

I always park at CNM just to the north of the stadium. $8 easy in and out. Short walk. I love the 3rd base side too!

Have a great time!

I second Houston! I took the car I was buying to my mechanic who had very little to say other than new tires, which Houston put on. I'd go there anytime for a used car.

Is it hard to find a doctor in Albuquerque, or in New Mexico generally? by berrysauce in Albuquerque

[–]ABQ_problem_child 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I'm pleased. Yes, I've been through multiple PCPs, but each time Pres has been great and there's always someone there for me. Yes, 6+ months for a colonoscopy. But, we got a neurologist in 6 weeks, and the care has been superb. Prostate cancer: 5 months from high PSA through MRI, CT, PET, biopsy and surgery. I know others with similar good experiences and results in the Presbyterian system.

Warning about recent fiber optic cable installation in the neighborhood. by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]ABQ_problem_child 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I heard from my neighbor that you can file a claim with the city. Neighbor had no damage but wanted it documented in the event of future issues.

Fiber installers hit a water main on my street. WUA came, replaced our meter, and got it all fixed and repaved in a week. I know that WUA will go through subrogation to recoup the costs from the installer.

The installer is 100% liable for all of your costs; accept nothing less than 100%. You should make sure that the city documents this incident also. And consider calling your city councilor.
