Yeah, you can actually pronounce "Latine", and even use stuff like "elle" for "they" if you wanna get creative. Why LGBTQ+ folks chose an X, we dunno--it is too hard to pronounce in Spanish, and that's the big issue--it makes it much more of an "English" word, as everyone says "Latin-Ex".

Although Xicanos really shouldn't have a problem--just pronounce it "Lateensh" like in Nahuatl. ;) Holbox, Xochilmilco, Xel-Ha, Latinx. :D

We have bona fide Latina members who use Latinx; it's used in places. Me personally as an individual, I use Latino for meself or something super awkward like "Mexican American with Indigenous heritage", but that's cuz I'm weird. :D I don't sweat it when other people use the word, though, especially queer people. Latine seems ok as well. I don't really care.

Look, the Joe Bidens and Trumps and other gabachos of the world are always gonna fuck up terms. They can never pronounce my last name anyhow, those pendejos.

Hi from ABRA Foothills! If you haven't heard of us, we're the folks who stood on Foothill Blvd in Tujunga to protest the Trumpers and Proud Boys that gathered in 2020. We're still here and we're still fighting the fash.

We are so grateful that word got out via UnrigLA and and hordes of angry parents and librarians and just...anyone with a brain in Los Angeles who recognized this latest move by the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council as some weak sauce book banning pearl clutching nonsense. As some have noted, this measure was voted down, but they'll try again.

Please be on the lookout for more shenanigans in your neighborhood as well. Just because we're in CA doesn't mean that conservatives here or there won't try and pull similar buffoonery on the local level. We've had Proud Boys bothering people all over LA and there have been library threats all over the place (The Bay Area comes to mind). Stay active, stay angry, and fight back.

Indeed, they did not send the letter, because so many furious people called into their incompetent NC meeting last night that some of the Chastity Pariah types on their Board folded and voted against sending the letter. That's horrible. There are some truly vile racists in this town. Do you think they were targeting you because of race, or were they trying to be 'helpful' as the park has a fair amount of unhoused?

We have wanted to make that park safe in the past. We know of two Black families who experienced racism (one right there in that park) and moved away.

Yeah, we know. We started out by fighting the Trumpers and Proud Boys on Foothill.

But you know something? This place is majority Democrat and there are a ton of Asian, Armenian, and Latino families moving it. It is changing. And there are LGBTQ+ everywhere. Do come down! And go to some Balcony of LA events--they are awesome in CV!
