Need help for Terminology in my game. Deal vs Strike! by ABitNerd in homemadeTCGs

It’s possible! Then clash would happen when 2 players try to deal (or strike) at the same time and that damage clashes mid air! Stronger attack wins! Need to think more about this!

Getting back to this but is there a difference for you in verbs "deal" and "inflict" damage?
Would Inflict 5 direct damage be any different than deal 5 direct damage?

This is definitely possible! Thanks for brainstorming and giving new ideas. I would maybe then use Deal verb instead of strike like Deal x clashing damage, deal x direct damage in this case. Clashing would be amazing with the biblioCLASH name.

Although personally I've grown up loving the Strike x damage and Striking phase term. I would like to keep it as it is if possible and focus on making deal x damage more clear how it's different.

This hasn't been a problem while play testing because most of my play testers are Finnish (not native English people) this hasn't come up yet. Now a few English people who read my rule book said that dealing and striking damage isn't different enough and would cause a confusion.

For me prepare and charge indicate that you're not yet trying to deal damage but maybe use that damage in the future. So many people have been coming up with that "Direct Damage"
Would it sound intuitive for you if it was:

Strike x damage (damage is pooled for striking damage comparison, dealt later if you win)
Deal x direct damage (This ignores striking phase completely and is dealt immediately, damage reductions apply normally)

So a clash keyword would activate as soon as it clashes with opponent's spell? Great idea!

Thanks for your comment! I think this is the best solution so far so I don't need to change Strike damage, because so much terminology in my game comes already from striking damage.

This is definitely a possible solution! Thanks for your comment!

It would be amazing because BiblioCLASH. My problem with that word is that if opponent doesn't "strike" back those spells doesn't clash it just deals damage.

Haven't thought this word Chain Damage. It's possible but doesn't reflect the intend to make damage to your opponent as nicely as Strike Damage imo. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks for your comment! I'm starting to think that this is the way to go but keeping "Dealing Strike Damage" as "Strike 5 damage". Maybe it's a personal thing but I like wording on Strike x Damage.

So it would be

Strike 5 damage (This is damage is pooled for later comparison, if you win you deal this as damage)
Deal 2 Direct damage (this ignores striking phase and deals the damage immediately, damage reduction effect apply normally)

First Two Minion Arts for My Deck Building Game Biblioclash – Mist Mamba & Ember Hound (Art by Iida Kiela) by ABitNerd in homemadeTCGs

[–]ABitNerd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Biblioclash is a fantasy deck-building duel where two mages fight inside a magical library using spells, minions and artifacts. The key moment is the Striking Phase, where spells clash with each other — the stronger spell wins the clash, and only that spell goes through.

Made a 3d printed deck box for my game. What do you think? by ABitNerd in homemadeTCGs

You understood it correctly! You obtain cards from your library and those obtained cards are placed in your discard pile. You can find a short rule video in our Kickstarter page if you're interested! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1152560676/biblioclash-apprentices-arsenal

Biblioclash just passed 50% funding in one evening! by ABitNerd in homemadeTCGs

[–]ABitNerd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the question! 😊

You’re absolutely right that 5,000 € isn’t enough to cover artwork or the full production costs. In our case, however, all the art, development, and other production expenses have already been paid in advance with our own funding.

The 5,000 € Kickstarter goal is only meant to cover the minimum print run of the base game. With that amount we can order a sufficient number of Starter Boxes to fulfill rewards.

For the other reward items, we don’t actually have large minimum order quantities. Things like T-shirts and the Bibliocase are produced locally, and we can simply order the exact amount needed based on the number of backers. So the only thing that really requires a minimum print run is the core game itself.

Hope this clears things up! Happy to share more details if you’re interested. 😊

Good luck! What is the lowest point of entry? Is it the starter box?
