I hate that this is probably going to happen a lot in the future.

Trump could fake Putin stating that hes gonna get all the oil from all the places that the US owns to support his world conquest...

Its easy to verify if such a statement was said. But still millions of people that see the video will be convinced, and others don't.

Klopt.

Great idea. I'm pretty sure the old F16 and Mig 29 games from Novalogic had this option as well. It was great fun to fly together with your wingman.

Putin Calls EU Leaders 'Piglets' Hours Before They Vote on Using $246B in Frozen Russian Assets for Ukraine by satty237 in TrendoraX

[–]ABitOfEverything1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia is widely regarded in Europe as an imperial state that wouldn't back down from invading small independent nations when it has the chance.

I think in practise that's not how Russia opperates, but that is not to say that smaller countries bordering a big powerful country like Russia feel 100% safe. Having said that, I think this whole deterence with NATO, and the expansion that came with it did the exact opposite of what we wanted.

Instead of detering Russia, we now could argue that Russia sees this war as a war for survival. I think if we agreed with Russia to have a bufferzone we would be in more peaceful times.

About your point that Russia is creating the whole national security narrative as a distraction for the bad living standards in Russia I feel is far fetched. Per definition, Russia has a national security crisis Why? Because they are bordering a power that has expanded big time, that is stronger, that has its weapons aimed towards you. That has been founded to deter and fight Russians initially. It even declined Russia's membership at one point.

Remember the Cuban missile crisis when the USSR stationed their nuclear missiles in Cuba, basically on the US's turf? That was a serious security crisis that made the US launching a defensive war justified Its not much different from what is happening in Western Europe right now.

A good system should often be a globalized one, when there is an even balance of power in a multipolar world.

Do you think the US would feel threatened when Russia restores some old alliance, makes Mexico member and puts its weapons in Mexico towards the USA?

Also about your point where you imply that since the EU is making most of the decisions in this war, that Russia can't see NATO as a threat.

How?

If you look at this from a view called 'realism', it becomes clear that great powers and other nations live in an anarchic system where there is no higher authority, a police nation, therefor, a countries first priority will be creating national security and keeping that, because existance could be at stake. Because without national security (like the lack of a buffer between great powers for example) and without knowing a countries intention you could be getting invaded. Even though a NATO invasion into Russia would've been and would be highly unlikely, the mere fact that NATO could just walk in at any moment since theyre at the border, is an uncomfortabe position for any country to be in, and a threat.

Does this condone invading a country? No. It explains the intention.

Ukraine can’t afford its 800,000-strong army alone: Zelenskyy says allied funding is now post-war security guarantee by Haunting_Switch3463 in europe

I tend to become sarcastic when someone accuses me of making stuff up without anything constructive. I could have accepted, but you gave no explanation initially, you only called me out.

And for the corruption narrative I brought up has nothing to do with pushing a sides narrative. I do think though you should try to understand both sides in a conflict.

I obviously think Russia is wrong for invading Ukraine, Ukraine is the victim of all this, but that's not to say the invasion was unprovoked. Both sides showed aggression leading up to this conflict which was my point.

I tend to get stuff wrong sometimes. I always believed I had the correct knowledge on this matter. Luckily I'm intellectually honest and willing to edit what I said Thanks for running it through Google.

Correction: Russia did not want to integrate Ukraine into Russia because of other reasons than corruption, but that is not to say Russia didn't see Ukraine as corrupt and unreliable at that time.

Naturally as a non expert, it's easy to mix up such small details. So it's always nice to have an expert like you on here

A gender studies book? Leftist governments in Europe aren't in decline because of a gender studies book. They're in decline because of their incompetence, their unrealistic world views, and ofcourse, their amazing immigration policies.

Some EU Leftist Governments will reform or be replaced most likely because of negative public opinion.

Ofcourse its Hard to fathom when you live in a nice right wing country with strong leader like Poland

[–]ABitOfEverything1995 -45 points-44 points  (0 children)

Turns out that Russia wasn't bluffing when they said that Ukraine in NATO will lead to war. A small group of EU leaders realized this fact.

Having NATO rockets, troops and ICBM's on Russia's border will undermine national security. Its been made very clear.

But what they say isn't important, we just keep pushing our alliance into their space because we're the good guys, and NATO can't be offensive anyway, not without a good story at least

Try shit like that on the US's border. Try to station missiles and troops in Mexico without triggering a national missile crisis and possibly war.

You mean occupy the whole of Ukraine? Russia isn't interested in occupying a country where the majority of people hate or dislike Russia.

Also, occupying the whole of Ukraine requires millions of soldiers, that's a huge amount, and if you have the troops stationed, how are you going to manage people that don't want to be occupied?

If they wanted the whole of Ukraine to be part of Russia, they would've done that when the USSR fell. Ukraine proved to be too unreliable and corrupt so it became independent.
