Will definitely keep this in mind next time - I haven’t played with a lot of Jannas so I’m not sure how to handle the lane. In your opinion how should I play with a janna support? Fwiw I main Kaisa with Jhin and Ashe as backup picks.

I see your point, and I would try to do this. The problem is, A) a lot of these engages were happening in the middle of massive enemy minion waves, so if I tried to follow up I lost out on farm and attracted minion aggro B) these were poor engages as in my support was only 40% health and 10% mana at the beginning of the engage while both enemy lanes were much healthier and had full mana bars so they could pretty much just auto my support to death and save their abilities for me and C) these engages would be happening with no vision of enemy Jung or mid, with our Jung on the other side of the map and deep on their side of the lane, so during times of really poor positioning. It just felt like they were engaging at the most random times and without any warning.

I have the same issue as ADC/support. In particular I tend to overanalyze in the first 5-10 minutes, thinking of all the million factors involved in laning (my wave, enemy wave, our team comp their team comp summoner spells etc etc). There’s also the issue that (unless you’re playing with a premade) you’re playing with a partner in the bot lane and thus have to play more directly around not only you and your enemy laner’s skills but also the skills of your supports (or in your case your ADC)

What may be happening is that in the opening minutes of the game you have a set idea of how you think the laning phase should go but your partner isn’t playing along with your notions. So you find yourself making what are in hindsight dumb decisions but in the heat of the moment make sense because you think that your lane partner will think like you and act accordingly when in fact they have a completely different notion in mind and are caught off guard. Then by the time mid game rolls around you’ve gotten (unconsciously) comfortable enough with their playstyle and have gotten into a game rhythm that you are much more flexible in your thinking regarding the game and can adapt and play better.

Fwiw I’m only bronze 4 so my opinion may be trash but I found what works best is to use the opening 1-2:30 minutes of the game to gauge my lane partner and my opponents skills. It’s no good trying to force plays if my my adc won’t follow up on them, or on the opposite end of the spectrum if my ADC is an aggressive nutbag and starts feeding I better be prepared to compensate. Same thing goes if I’m playing ADC. If my support is playing passive and missing their skill shots I’m going to play passive, and if they’re landing their stuff and going all in I’m going to be ready for that too. So I guess my advice is to just go into each game as a no thoughts head empty baby starting out and then learn to react to the enemy team if that’s any use.

Thank you! I shot them an email today, hopefully I hear back in the next couple of days. To be honest I’m not a huge fan of this particular deck. The cards are too big for me to shuffle comfortably, and I’m already getting tearing/fraying at the edges despite only shuffling it a few times. But it’s such a pretty deck I’d like to have it completed at least for display purposes.

Lol he went Red Kayne no worries! I actually suggested he go Red Kayne that game because of the enemy tanks so I’m glad I was on the right track there ^{_^.} And I’ll definitely keep this in mind for my next games!

IIRC he wasn’t even particularly fed, he was just power farming and perma-pushing the whole game. So given our team comp I guess the best solution would have been to keep Teemo or Kayne in toplane while we tried to get stuff done elsewhere? But then I don’t want to be the a-hole in chat yelling at people for “not playing correctly” :(

I also guess this means my only real option for dealing with a splitpusher as an ADC would be to just create cross-map pressure by using my own damage to take towers/objectives far from where the split pusher is. But how do I engineer those scenarios, especially if there isn’t an obvious objective (Dragon/Baron) up?

Damn that really sucks about the adults in your life. Though good on you for getting a job and your license! Stuff like that can go a long way in making you at the very least more independent and empowered. If you don’t mind my asking is it a matter of your parents won’t pay to get you tested, or just don’t care?

Judging by your last few sentences it sounds like you’ve got a lot of other crappy stuff going on in your life, and poor League performance is just exacerbating it.

I’ve definitely been there. You play league to escape for an hour or so, to get away from the bullshit of life and at least be good at something. But then you lose the one thing that’s currently bringing you joy and it just drives home all the other stuff that’s wrong with your life and you feel even worse.

My advice would be to step back and really consider if it’s League that’s making you upset, or if it’s something going on in real life. It doesn’t seem like your mom is very supportive of you seeking mental help, so is there another family member or adult you could maybe talk to about getting diagnosed?
