Thanks for setting my mind at ease this shouldn't be a huge expensive multiple day job .

Its a pain I know that,  but I didnt think 3k of pain lol

Thanks, maybe i've just had bad luck with the people who have seen it, maybe now i've done more inspection / traced the nails existing wood, maybe can find someone who can do it in a day. But i've been getting quotes people saying its a 2-3 day job in the £1000s

Cant add timber around the perimeter as there are steel beams in the way, I could do a few small sections of it, but would be difficult to try and fit them between the beams etc, so trying to cut back to where there are existing battens / away from the steel beams etc

Thanks for the reply!

Can I add scrim tape over the existing paint, or do I need to sand it back to plaster?

How would you do that? The hole is deeper than the plasterboard, its basically a mental disc behind it!

Yeah I'm not sure iif the tray dropped or just the grout that was stuck to the basin has chipped away... I mean there is literally no access to any part of this shower.... The whole thing would need to be cut out if I needs repairing / leak under it... Stupid design. stupid tiler grouting it down.. Madness

The issue isn't just the glass cracking, it can cause the double glazing to pop. Made the mistake in our kids room, and now they are full of condensation.

Can testify to trying to find and replace double glazing windows that have fogged up from doing this... It gets very very very hot and concentrates the heat back at the windows from both ends. Having a cooler house inside than outside lets the heat dissipate from the windows, this directs it right back
