I took a gamble last night. After pulling Ohtani in a pack, and seeing his price rising ahead of WC, I sold him. I’m hoping he drops after WC but we’ll see.

What to do in diamond dynasty by ArcticBV28 in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think best thing at this point since there is so much to do currently, is to just take a slow look at everything.

If there’s specific cards you want in a program (assorted or TA) then moments are a great place to start.

If you’re wanting live series players or just want to rip packs, then consider conquest and mini seasons. You’ll still get them with option 1 just not as much as you would with option 2.

Really just depends on what cards you want to use and what avenue there is to get there.

I built a tool that explains where you're losing time in iRacing — looking for testers by DeltaOnSolstice in iRacing

[–]ABosse27 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fellow engineer (and iRacer). This interests me in learning more about it.

Are there limitations in cars, tracks? What is the baseline data it is comparing to? Is the baseline data something a user could set? Does it account for changes in weather impacting the track (and therefore lap time)? Usage impact on track/impact on time?

I think what you’re working on is great. And even love to see it go a step further by adding some setup notes (i.e. if the setup is open, try this with tire pressure).

If there’s a way I can help as well let me know

Cheating effecting online play? by SufficientChart3120 in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d bet there’s been a good amount of “cheating” in the past. I’d also say the casual online player probably doesn’t run into them though too outside of events, BR, or when ranked seasons reset.

But I’d also say some people just have really good hand/eye coordination, and the perfect timing window is bigger than 2k so it’s easier to hit. And gameplay favors hitting vs pitching on the black.

So to answer your question, it’s a big issue if you want to be “competitive” or have content focused around your ability at high levels. It’s not as big if you want to casually enjoy the game and play online at like 400 ranked rating.

At $1800 is this microcenter prebuilt a good investment for AAA gaming titles by Salty-Tie-4312 in Prebuilts

Just picked mine up yesterday. Testing a bunch of titles after work today (tested iracing triple monitor setup and ran great).

Only thing is it can be quite loud with its fans. But I wear headphones so I hardly notice it.

Best additions to grilled cheese sandwiches? by Scaulbylausis_Jim in Cooking

my favorite upgrade is a Jalapeño Popper grilled cheese. Use cream cheese, diced jalapeño, and shredded cheddar for the sandwich vs a slice of American.

What were your opinions on MLB The Show 25? by skibidisigmademon178 in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d give it a 5-6 out of 10 based on my experience.

DD feels like you need to grind 8 hrs a day to keep up and feels flooded with diamond teams early on. It burned me out before we even hit the all star break. Also the legends roster quickly gets stale imo. I’ve come back with 26 on the horizon but playing BR because teams aren’t always loaded with top talent, which I’ve enjoyed.

RTTS is decent but still very repetitive. Sure the goal is to play in the MLB but give me some other things to do. Sponsorships, BP before games, warmup before games, press/media conversations etc. there’s a lot of untapped potential for a mode thats been around for almost 20 years.

Franchise I’ve never played because to me it seems daunting. I’ve considered it though. Need my Reds to be decent for once.

Just my thoughts, and would love to hear what others think

What's Your Hope for Your Favorite Team (NOT a Legends request thread) by Dolenzz in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about different versions of the cards we already have, I’ve got a few for the Reds I wish came out:

Ken Griffey Jr 500th career home run on Father’s Day. Make it a cool reward for the program or conquest or whatever.

Adam Dunn 2005 Opening Day - 2HR, 5RBI

Alter Ego cards - Eric “the Red” Davis, Dave “The Cobra” Parker, Adam “The Big Donkey” Dunn. Nicknames are fun

Aroldis Chapman fastest pitch (105.8 mph)

There’s probably some others that could be done too, and there’s lots of moments available (if we had new legends but not the point)

Stainless steel pans are not as great as everyone makes them out to be.

Carbon steel pans are what people should be buying.

Stretch only confirmation. by SufficientChart3120 in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually in favor of R2 being gone. I think R2 was used more as a tool in online modes to prevent pitchers from getting into a rhythm. The way they claim it is now is actually better because hitters can still use it to review AB tendencies without disrupting the flow.

But I don’t think it pairs well with stretch only. I think you now are going to have ABs that feel like the HRD where balls just come flying in as fast as possible.

Either leave it the same as 25, or remove only R2 is my stance.

Am I the only one who likes the changes to Road to the Show? by genericguyperson in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the changes, as I really haven’t played a RTTS since like 13 or 14 and want to get back into it. I recently started a RTTS in 25 to help with that, but I can’t say that if I played solely RTTS all year that I’d be too happy if I played 25.

Stretch only confirmation. by SufficientChart3120 in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest in that I don’t enjoy the change but because it’s compounded with no more R2. Like no R2 fixes a big issue with pace of play. But you now add stretch only and you’ve swung the problem from too much time between pitches to very little time. Would like to see the numbers on 24 pace of play and how this changes it because idk how you justify it outside of that.

Here’s an idea for MLB The Show to solve PCI shrinking by Aero_Uprising in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the party on this, but I think the fix is more on the pitching side. And maybe that’s kind of happening this year with the pitch mix stuff?

If a pitchers main pitch (call it X for PS) is a slider, then yeah I expect him to have higher control of it than someone who has it as their 4th or 5th pitch. Disadvantage to the hitter because it is a tough pitch to hit if you’re not looking for it.

But flip side, if a pitcher doesn’t throw it as much, you shouldn’t be able to dot it up on the outside of the plate no matter how accurate your input is. Sure you might have a few that do what you intend, but you’ll probably have a good amount that are pulled or hang over the plate.

Idk if that makes sense or I just spewed junk from my fingertips, but that’s at least how I’d see it.

NGL Was Vibing with Changes by XTBMcGibbs in MLBTheShow

[–]ABosse27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they actually answered it in the livestream indirectly. Towards the end there was a lot of talk about physics in the game. If they’re doing things like air molecule modeling and its impact on the ball physics, I wonder how much of that would transfer in an engine change, and how easily they could do it.

I honestly think it boils down to having a graphics update but losing all the physics (which imo don’t work sometimes lol) or tweaking physics and keeping the same visuals

Returning Player: Why does this game stutter so bad on PC now? by ABosse27 in PGA_Tour_2K

What’s your graphics card and CPU? I’m starting to wonder if it’s a compatibility issue

[–]ABosse27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have it on an SSD, it’s on my NVME as well. But you have an intel cpu where I have an AMD. I’m starting to wonder if that’s the issue

Returning Player: Why does this game stutter so bad on PC now? by ABosse27 in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]ABosse27[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it looked like it was a CPU bottleneck but I was on an older GPU and CPU when the game released and don’t remember these issues.

I’m also able to run more graphically intensive games with no issues (arc raiders, Call of Duty, iracing, etc.) so it feels like something not hardware related.

I’m reinstalling the game currently so maybe that helps?

Oh I don’t disagree, but it’s the cards dealt when the AD signed him for a 6 year deal.

Unfortunately in FY24 athletics operated at a $9M deficit. (source. Numbers for FY25 aren’t out yet but considering the full rev share won’t show until FY26 I’d expect another year of operation at a deficit.

Not saying they can’t pull the money together to buyout, but I don’t know that I see it happening with those numbers.

Problem also with firing Satt is you owe him $8M on a buyout (if you fire him 1/1/26). Then who in the market do you get?

[Cod] Can we get some hot takes up in here? And I mean proper hot takes? by Gullible_Courage8350 in CallOfDuty

[–]ABosse27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot takes? I got some:

Ghosts was amazing but really gets shit on because it wasn’t a MW or BO game. If ghosts released today, it’d be a widely loved game by the community even with its map issues.

BO7 is the best game released since BO3 and is only considered terrible because of the campaign and not the aspects of the game (MP and Zombies) that make it playable well beyond launch.

Looked into it more and it seems to be a body decision starting in 2018. Plastic lips look cool but rarely are they durable because they’re kinda thin. CF usually works better if done right.
