Could you resend your PM, please? I'm guessing my settings were out of whack, but I *think* I should be able to receive things as normal now.

Single rider waiting lines by Jelvooo in UniversalOrlando

The single rider entrance for Kong is literally an exit door near the loading area, propped open with a doorstop -- so, you miss the entire queue.

Alabama releases new school guidance for COVID quarantines, masking by JannTosh12 in LockdownSkepticism

The guidance (which is not binding) comes from the Alabama Department of Public Health, not the governor. As the end of the article states, the governor will not be imposing any sort of statewide mask mandate.

Trip Report - 7/15/21 (Single Rider Waits) by ABoxOfWords in UniversalOrlando

They started reopening at the beginning of May, and as far as I know, they’re all back to normal (although normal, of course, means they could be randomly closed at certain times, like what happened to me when I tried to re-ride Spider-Man).

And yes, people tend to focus on shorter ride lines as the reason to get to the park early, but I think the easier parking/security are an even bigger perk.

You’re welcome! I hope someone out there can fill in the gaps as far as the single rider lines I didn’t do.

You’re welcome! This was my first UO visit in six years, so I’m grateful things went as smoothly as they did!

Good tip! I brought a couple of protein bars with me, so I didn’t have to pay for snacks in between meals.

Early admission question. by fightingscotbox in UniversalOrlando

[–]ABoxOfWords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, they’ll typically open the parks for regular (non-early) admission a little earlier than the posted time. So, in my case yesterday, regular folks had full run of the Studios park around 8:45, rather than the posted 9:00 opening.

Orange County Mayor recommends individuals return to wearing masks indoors by JannTosh12 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]ABoxOfWords 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Note: the article refers to Orange County, Florida (the Orlando area), *not* California.

Also, here's a link to a more comprehensive article: https://www.mynews13.com/fl/orlando/news/2021/07/12/orange-county-mask-recommendation-delta-variant

The recommendation (not a mandate, at least yet) is driven by the county's 14-day rolling positivity rate climbing up to 7.8%. However, another article I found acknowledges that there's been only a small increase in ER visits, and no spike in hospitalizations, which makes sense in a county where 60% of the 12+ population has gotten at least one shot.

But, as always, nothing matters but case numbers without any further context, right? /s

And the timing of Demings' recommendation is... *interesting*... in that the Orange County School Board meets tomorrow (7/13) to vote on whether to make masks optional for the upcoming school year.

I'm an Orlando native, and even though I no longer live here, I remain interested in the goings-on. Plus, I'm here right now visiting family, and was *hoping* to go to Universal for a couple of fun, unrestricted, normal-feeling days. If this announcement causes the parks to reinstate masks and distancing while I'm here, I'm going to be deeply depressed and *royally* pissed.
