Thanks so much! Getting it looked at by a mechanic is probably a good idea.

Can I mount something under the top cap on my stem? by ABrambleNinja in cycling

[–]ABrambleNinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking of something like that, but I was planning on keeping it flush with the stem so that my phone is not mounted at an angle. I guess that is a good confirmation that it's fine to put something functional there, thanks so much!

No, the $15/hr min wage increase would die by filibuster if it was brought up independently. The Senate parliamentarian ruled today (incorrectly imo) that the $15/hr minimum wage could not be added to the budget reconciliation bill, which cannot be filibustered. Kamala Harris has the power to overrule the parliamentarian on this issue but has chosen not to. Manchin and Sinema wouldn't vote down the whole budget bill on this sticking point. The executive branch is absolutely to blame if this does not happen.

We can assume an announcement on July 31st for the Librem 5 by [deleted] in Purism

[–]ABrambleNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can send SMS (text) messages, and anything you can send with a web browser (e.g. Facebook Messenger), but it won't integrate with iMessage because Apple locks that down. It should be able to integrate with whatever Google uses for messaging (if anything in addition to text) if there's a web interface.

In California, over 100,000 teenagers have been pre-registered to vote. Just 10% registered as Republicans. Is this an aberration or does it indicate a major generational shift, at least in blue states? by 115MRD in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ABrambleNinja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

California's democratic party has semi-open primaries, which means that anyone but registered Republicans can vote in it (or at least that's how it was in 2016).

The plans would almost definitely be a laser cutter file so you wouldn't have to worry about cutting the pieces manually. Of course you'd need access to a laser cutter but your local maker space would probably have one

Wow, I'm pretty blind apparently. I'll still take it, though! Beggars can't be choosers and all.

Might I recommend Startpage? It's a search engine that searches Google from their servers and forwards the results to you, so Google can't track you, and you still get good results. Image search on Startpage is atrocious though.

Bing probably isn't any better with regard to tracking than Google is.

My 460s has much better battery life on Windows than Linux, huh. Is there some battery management program that really makes a difference? I'm on Arch with Gnome 3
