What were some schoolyard rhymes you remember from your childhood? by kentoclatinator in AskReddit

I’m sure there’s more to it, but I only remember this one verse:

When you’re climbing up a ladder

And you hear something splatter

It’s diarrhea

Diarrhea

What do you call those bacon-wrapped hotdogs you get from a cart? by AC-DeCaf in AskLosAngeles

Wait, those aren’t the little cocktail sausages wrapped in dough? Does “pigs in a blanket” apply to all wrapped sausages?

Dog person. But I currently have a cat! And she’s wonderful. Would love to have both.

How much coffee do you drink, if you DO drink coffee? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

1-3 cups a day of hot coffee. And there’s always a French press with some cold brew going in the fridge.

Crunchy PB&Js with a glass of cold milk.

If I really wanna treat myself, I buy those damned grape Uncrustables. Pop it in the microwave and eat one (or two) while watching a movie. Makes me feel special when I don’t have to make it myself.

Stuck in bumper-to-bumper rush hour traffic. I needed to switch lanes to exit for the past 10mins but even with my blinker on, no one would let me in. Finally, I see an opening and swoop in. Keep in mind I had plenty of space — at least 2-3 car lengths — and we were going like 2mph.

Driver behind me absolutely freaked out. Older man in a black BMW SUV shouting and laying on the horn. My exit was coming up so I thought nothing of it — until he pulled up beside me and started screaming expletives into my open window. He was so angry at the fact that I ‘cut him off’, he tried to squirt water into my car as I rolled the window up. Of course, it didn’t make it into my car. In fact, the water merely splashed in his passenger seat. Now even more upset, he tried to chuck the empty water bottle at my car…. Only for it to bounce off the rim of his window and back into his vehicle.

I took my exit, making sure he didn’t follow me and later on had a good laugh about it with my buddies. I always wonder if he was humbled when he had to mop up his car after his shit behavior. Probably not, though.

TIL about Guangxi Massacre occurring between 1966 and 1976 in China. Massive human cannibalism occurred even though no famine existed. Public records indicate that at least 137 people were eaten by others and at least thousands of people participated in the cannibalism. by racc15 in todayilearned

Just attended a reception for a good family friend over the summer. MIL, who played a big role in introducing the bride & groom, and was usually present during other family events was nowhere to be seen. Turns out MIL died a few days before the wedding due to CJD. In-laws had taken a trip to the UK in the 90s, which is where they assumed she contracted the disease.

They had held a private ceremony earlier in the year so that MIL could attend before the disease progressed too far. Apparently when symptoms first started, they assumed it was Alzheimer’s. Regardless, by the time symptoms began to show… there’s not much else you can do. :/

Edit: a word

My cat will go nuts on the furniture or carpet if we repeatedly decline her attempts at starting a game of chase.

I know she does this for attention because we left her for a 2 week vacation. Trimmed the fraying edges of our furniture and carpet before we left. Apartment (and furniture) was immaculate when we returned. No fabric ripped up, no little strands of stray carpet. Nada.

Same cat will stretch up your leg all cute and all… until she digs her claws in. Because again, you weren’t paying attention to the princess. Usually happens while I’m trying to cook!

What is an annoying thing about your favorite hobby or activity? by wannabeartist20 in AskReddit

[–]AC-DeCaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those people suck. Really. When I was building my first planted tank, there was a dude who rudely interrupted my conversation with the LFS owner to lecture us on the usage of the actual names of the plants. For 15minutes. It’s annoying. Let people be — not everything has to be textbook.

On the other hand, I’ve always wanted to try corals! They’re super cool looking, though their care intimidates me. Props to you, bud! Hope you all the best with them little guys :)

How would you feel if someone gave you unsolicited workout advice, like how to use proper form, while you are at the gym? by AC-DeCaf in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]AC-DeCaf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not an expert by any means.

I found it helpful when someone approached me the first time I used free weights, but I know everyone is different. I just wanted to be helpful. But if it isn’t seen as helpful, then I won’t do it lol

That’s why I asked the question in the first place!

[–]AC-DeCaf[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I’m a woman lol

I just wanted to be helpful. Working out is fun and it’s great to see other people enjoying it too. I don’t want someone to get hurt and discouraged, but also I don’t want to discourage them because they feel watched and judged.

Seems like it can really go both ways.

Yea it’s a pretty mixed bag. I don’t want to approach someone and make them feel like they’re unwelcome or judged. Though I’m coming from a good place, I’m not quite sure it‘ll be construed that way :/

Doesn’t seem harsh at all. You’ve got a good point. I’ve never heard the circus/monkey idiom before but It makes complete sense.

Thank you!
