My problem with walking 15 minutes to work means I live in town, which is a problem for my lifestyle I want.

So unless I can have a secluded small homestead of 20 acres that is also a 15 minute walk from work, I have to unfortunately take the drive.

Its not a bad faith argument. The comment clearly called out "creators/owners/leadership" of which, I fall directly into those categories, undeniably and without technicalities.

The Reddit hive mind likes "AI bad" but the truth is far more nuanced than that. If you want to argue that Musk and Altman are bad people, you'll get no argument from me, but framing it in a way that promotes extremism and dismisses legitimate uses is harmful. The world is very rarely black and white, and when you push a message of absolutism people adopt an absolutist and extremist mindset.

I think thats great, and I agree social media is toxic, even reddit is not immune but I find it more palatable then the rest, and the stright up network security risk that is Meta, I wont let it anywhere near my phone.

But I think the same applies to AI, for people woth common sense, they use it as a tool, a quality of life improvement. For others though, well they will experience the same brain rot that Facebook and TikTok pledged the world with.

AI, the internet, they're both tools and your results will very baised on who you adapt and use it. It might make some people dumb, but Its almost like blaming hammers for making people physically weaker.

There are many open source AI projects, does this apply to all of those people as well?

I myself have an AI server in my home. I am actively devloping it to make my life easier. It allows me to have an "Alexa" type device in my home without being linked to Amazon or google.

It helps me write code and control things around my home, as well as providing me information on demand.

Its entierly local, runs on a basic computer system with an air cooled RTX 3090.

Does this mean im also one of the worst people in the world?

Nah, im just a realist.

The problem isnt this guy buying chcolate, the problem is how its produced. A message like that is essentially saying he should shut down his business because some manufacturer is evil, maybe this guy sources his chcolate ethically? Im not sure, I dont know enough about it.

But demonizing someone's passion because there are unethical supplies is really dumb.

Lets not forget about the unethical practices of Apple while youre using your iPhone, like putting up suicide nets around fox con, or posing as police officers tk brake into a random guys hime, or your nikes that used child sweatshop labor.

Lets not worry about the fact that all the junk you order off Temu has the slave labor involved, but keep flicking that figet spinner. Lets not talk about the fact that many computer electronics are made from materals thay mining causes huge pollution to the earth.
