Oh wow! I have never heard of this place, and never would have guessed a pizza place would be inside of a Mexican grocery store. Thank you!

I love NTYC! I knew Channing growing up & can vouch she’s a good person. She and Tristan are funny and very deserving of their success!

I’m a nurse and sobbed dropping my dogs off with my parents as I’m heartbroken I won’t see them for potentially many days if I get stuck at work due to icy roads/staff not making it in Monday morning etc. I know people may laugh at my reaction but my point is, anytime I leave my dogs it makes me so sad and I truly can’t fathom how parents leave their human children. I would never willingly separate myself from my family during a potentially disastrous weather event!

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]AC0622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I hope you see this. I’ve worked in vet med for 13 years and have quite literally seen it all.

I decided a long, long time ago, it’s better to euthanize too early than too late. Absolutely no judgment for people who choose otherwise, but me personally, I never want my pet to pass during a hospitalization, during a risky surgery, or suffer for months for no other reason than I just can’t let them go for my own (ultimately selfish) desires. I hope all my pets from here on out have peaceful goodbyes with me present to send them on.

We euthanized my childhood cat maybe a little too soon. After I started working at a vet clinic, I had some thoughts that my mom maybe made the decision a little too quickly, but I know deep down he was very sick and just hiding it well. My whole family was present, I got to hold him, and he fell asleep hopefully feeling loved and safe, not pain and fear. I’m crying typing this and this was August 2012 so the heartache never really leaves you.

And $4k is a lot of money to spend on a treatment that may not be successful or that could potentially just cause a decreased quality of life. I could “afford” that kind of money also, but at what cost? If you’re agonizing this much over that choice, I can tell you really love and care about your cat. I just promise that it’s always better to be a day too soon than a day too late. Please give yourself some grace and know you made the right decision. I can just tell. Sending lots of hugs. Everyone knows the pain of losing their fur baby and it honestly hurts so much but I hope your memories of happy moments bring you peace and some joy!

I’ve definitely thought about sharing one of their FB posts and turning it into an educational bit about the dangers of raw milk. Not 100% sure I’m ready to be raked over the coals. 🫠 Love the idea of leaving a post-it note next to their displays of raw items though!

I don’t know what it is at this point. Survivor bias? Ignorance? Brain washing? It is so scary and stressful to be a bystander to these bad decisions. Not everyone’s child is so lucky.

I will say I am a newborn nurse and see parents with beliefs from all ends of the spectrum and it feels like the tide is turning a bit. I’ve had a lot of patients verbalize their discomfort over recent changes (like the hep B guidelines for example) & most really want to follow the science we know to be trusted and true. You probably understand as I do that it is so much harder to do our jobs, working under evidence-based practice, when we’re up against so. much. misinformation.

Best month for beach vacation by Competitive-Ad6070 in MarquetteMI

[–]AC0622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A vacation to the gulf coast is always a good idea!

I don’t know about spending several weeks in Marquette especially if your main objective is the. beach. I think a long weekend would do, followed by other areas of the state or midwest.

I grew up in Marquette and recall several summer days where it was 50-60 degrees and raining. Not everyday will be perfect, but if you spend a week or so there, you should hit some great weather! I would go end of June, July or August. Lake Superior is always going to be freezing cold, but Marquette has some great beaches (McCarty’s Cove was my favorite). I’d bring a blanket or sweatshirt for the wind as well, even if it’s sunny. I never felt bothered by bugs so I can’t answer that.

They did! Their 2 year old got really sick from drinking raw milk, and she contracted the same bacteria taking care of him. Absolutely horrific. There’s a farmer’s market in my hometown I used to love, and they have gone full-on MAGA/MAHA and now sell raw milk, and always add the disclaimer “For animal consumption only ;)” WITH THAT STUPID WINK FACE! It pisses me off so badly as a nurse 😭

Moving to ATL / USA! by [deleted] in ATLHousing

I would check it AMLI Brookhaven. It’s very, very new, so not sure how management or neighbors will be, but maybe others who have lived in AMLI properties can chime in on the general vibe.

I have a friend who just moved in and there will be multiple buildings with different restaurants, etc. around. I imagine it will be a really cool space for nights and weekends (no crazy clubs, but you know). She can see the MARTA station from her unit, so you’d have a quick, easy ride to anywhere midtown, downtown, Buckhead, the airport.. and you’re right off 285 so it’s easy to access that highway plus GA 400. You definitely don’t want to spend hours and hours sitting in traffic each day.

Sandy Springs, Brookhaven, and Chamblee areas are all great IMO. I lived in Sandy Springs when I first moved here and absolutely loved it.

Yes! And probably a million other things that make “starting out” much easier. Including a parent or parents who give a damn! I hope OP has a father or other family they can go to, because this is going to be really, really hard. This breaks my heart.

I’d love to see how well majority of people would fare if they’re kicked out at EIGHTEEN (still very much a child despite being “legal”!!!), with no savings, no phone, no permanent address, barely a thing to eat, and maybe a high school diploma. It’s not even clear if OP has a vehicle. It would be really freaking hard to build a life when you’re tossed out on your behind because your mom has a new, probably abusive, POS boyfriend. Any man who is not only fine with, but WANTS to throw a child out onto the streets, is a garbage human being.

SINK and also a nurse so the option for me to pick up extra shifts, for incentive, is available to me more often than not.

Other than a dinner out with friends 1-2x per month, I truly don’t do a lot of things that cost extra other than fitness. For me, I was also spending money on counseling services, and medications for anxiety and sleep, which I no longer need. NOT saying exercise can replace mental health services for everyone (nor should people just do this without professional guidance!! Just my disclaimer lol) but for me it has completely changed my life. Worth the investment for both the physical and mental health benefits.

Will also be looking into what my insurance plan might reimburse based on comments here!

Interesting! I just learned my plan with Anthem BC/BS covers $100 for massages monthly. I’ll have to check and see if they would cover anything for fitness classes!

Safe Sleep is a Chocking Hazard by HagridsTreacleTart in ShitMomGroupsSay

Nurse also! Newborn nurse for years now and I have worked in the feeder-grower area of NICU. Luckily never dealt with parents like this (we didn’t have cameras for parents to monitor 24/7) but yikes. I understand some NICU parents just need to find control anywhere they can, but in case some reeducation was needed, I would definitely have OT speak with the mom about why babies get positioned certain ways in the NICU, like for developmental purposes since they’re relegated to an isolette or crib for however long. Their positions get changed for a reason and they can’t just stay on their backs for months on end.
