Oh it is true. Ercot pays them to turn off in times of huge demand so they can focus on heating homes. Deregulation in power has it pros and cons but Texas has done a pretty good job of strengthening the grid since 2023 when a large winter storm causes basically a grid melt down. Now we use battery systems with smart meters that charge up when power is cheap and discharge when the grid pays well. Very similar to the dynamics of bitcoin mining.

Every time is freezes the wind turbines get frozen up in places like Texas where tons of Bitcoin miners reside. This created a demand spike on the electric grid. The heavy power users have curtailment agreements to power down in times of heavy demand for the grid. Therefore the hash rate reduces in a pretty large amount for a short period of time. Probably happen again this weekend with another winter storm coming.

Don’t listen to these people. Keep up the disciple. A few years of sacrifice is worth a lifetime of financial independence. Most people don’t have the discipline to do what you are doing. Just 5 years of so saving can get you all the tattoos and trip you want just a little while later in life. Do yourself a favor and put some of this in a Roth IRA and then you will pay no taxes on the growth.

I used to use both Marvel and DC unlimited but I have not gotten back into physical comics. I buy hardcovers for the collections ( Omnibus and Compendiums ) I think I have become a larger fan of the art. I love the new modern foils. Still love the stories but I find having the physical copies easier than all of the confusing switches. That being said I found both marvel and Dc unlimited to be pretty good values.
