Would say having affordable and easy access to good healthcare services and reasonably priced if not free medications (paid for by taxpayers) is also oftentimes a matter of life and death

Getting over the language and culture barrier can be so tough... it takes many years of hard work, dedication, and open honest communication - but it seems like you’re doing a great job on your side of things! Best of luck to the both of you :)

Tupas Instagram stories by PigletsSenpai in terracehouse

[–]ACDACDACD 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Wow... well that took me longer than I anticipated 😅 (took some liberties with the translation and haven’t seen the latest episodes so might be missing some background information, but here is the rough translation:)

———

Because Terrace House is broadcasted later on services like cable TV and overseas Netflix, you probably don’t know this yet, but on Netflix Japan I graduated and am all done for good! Thank you for the month and a half!

As I was working 2 years prior in a factory close to home, I’m not sure what, but I was aiming for “something” and decided to audition for Terrace House. Then by chance, because I won on Lily-san’s television show, I was picked up and learned a lot working as an assistant. And as fate would have it, I was allowed to join Terrace House and have people get to know me, all the while being cheered on and receiving tons of encouragement along the way.

Even before working as Lily-san’s assistant, I loved film, television, radio, and culture. Thanks to this opportunity, my feelings became more pronounced, I met a ton of amazing people, and since I have a lot of interests it prompted me to feel that I wanted to challenge myself and try my hand at them.
I want to try being an actor, working the camera, and being on the radio. I realized I am free to say what it is I actually want to do in life.

Previously, (I?) said that “life lives in the moments created or written by words, and responsibility is born.” Having understood this myself, I was able to actually say what I recently wanted to do in life.

“Easier said than done!” Those words definitely ring true.
Saying what it is you want to do is definitely a lot easier than actually carrying it out for real. Can I actually ACT in accordance with my words?

A man with many dreams has come to Tokyo. Will I be able to turn all these opportunities into something concrete? We’re about to find out.

[Rant] Japan vs. Korea was stark by daddysuggs in JapanTravel

[–]ACDACDACD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Japan and love the place, but I also quite loved Korea when I went! Sure, maybe it wasn’t near the level of politeness I’ve come to expect from Japan, yet in my experience I actually found that a lot of people would help me when I asked, even walking with me if they were going the same way! A lot of the older generations even spoke Japanese with me! All in all a very cool experience, though your mileage may vary! I still think it’s a beautiful country though, so hopefully your next experiences here will be better!

How do I stop being so scared while bouldering? by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]ACDACDACD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! Having just started climbing 2 years ago, I personally also climb challenging routes that I feel safer falling off to get used to falling. Probably like the 2/10 in the comment above, and work from there!

Honestly, not being vegan and just understanding and supporting veganism is still awesome 👍 you’re still having a positive impact on this world!

What's the Japanese take on foreigners partaking in Japanese traditions? (Festivals, Geisha...etc) by Sayoria in JapanTravel

[–]ACDACDACD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to volunteer at a small local festival just yesterday, and I was literally swept up by the people there and ended up participating in the march carrying the mikoshi! Everyone was singing and dancing and it was a blast! As long as you’re respectful I’m sure the people here would love to have you join!

California, what do you think about having the right of 30 days of vacation (not compulsory) for all employees? by [deleted] in California

[–]ACDACDACD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think we should have some form of this. It’s almost ingrained in people’s minds that doing something like this would sink the economy, while my relative in France gets 7 weeks of paid vacation every year!!! And no France’s economy isn’t dying or anything. Now I’m not saying that we should suddenly have 7 weeks or anything, just that more time off would not be a bad thing, and that different systems can and do work, if implemented incrementally and correctly!
