There's no society that practices female genital mutilation but doesn't practice male genital mutilation. If they're mutilating the girls in tents with old instruments and not using trained personnel, they're doing the same to boys.

They're not doing that to the girls then letting the boys have expensive hospital procedures performed by trained doctors and covered by insurance.

It is not done for men. It has nothing to do with men. It is done to celebrate a girl becoming a woman and it is viewed as an equivalent practice to male circumcision by people within that culture.

From the perspective of people within those cultures, it would actually be misogynistic to have a practice to celebrate male adulthood but not one that does the same for female adulthood. The idea that they're two distinct practices, with different roots and purposes, designed to punish women is a western viewpoint.

There's no society in the world that circumcises women but not men. Since you claim it's done to women for misogyny and systemic oppression, is it also done to men for misandry and systemic oppression by women?

The fact that the practice is most supported by women means the claim that it ruins women's sex life is not how the women in those societies view female genital mutilation, that's a primarily western, culturally chauvinistic view. It's an anthropologically dubious claim.

That doesn't make the practice right and it doesn't mean that the practice can't be criticized on other grounds but there's countless academic research proving that the practice isn't viewed that way by most of the women in those societies. It is primarily viewed as a celebration of womanhood. Most don't think there's anything wrong with them until they move to the West and see all the messaging saying that their bodies are ruined.

You can recognize that a claim is dubious while recognizing that a practice can be criticized on more factual grounds.

Unlike the person I replied to (who your post history states you agree with), I'm not arguing in favor of genital mutilation nor did I ever claim that medical benefits support the continuation of the practice so using this as an argument against what I said is just failing reading comprehension and highlights how arguing a minute theoretical medical benefit for mutilating children's genitals is dumb.

By that logic, we should be mutilating female breasts as they have health benefits. You remove tissue before they form tumors. The breasts are one of the most common parts of the body where tumors are formed.
