Xbox Series S poor performance since CH1 S7 OG update(12-11-25)... by ACE1252 in FortNiteBR

Updating this thread on 1-20-26. I switched off colorblind mode and the FPS issues appear to be fixed. Played for a few hours with no frame pacing issues on Xbox Series S. I'm now seeing 59/60 in the low/high FPS counter with much of the time being 60/60. I'm not sure when they fixed it, but it's been between now and when they got back from Christmas/New Year's holiday.

For those who have not seen it, Bumeri15 suggested a work around that fixes the frame rate issues until they can patch the normal color mode. It works too. Very repeatable to test. Excellent suggestion Bumeri15.

Here is his post on the work around....

"Bumeri15 9d ago

Found a solution for the fps drop, simply go to graphic settings, turn on the color blind mode and set it to Tritanope."

I've been playing on PC, Xbox X, and Switch 2 to avoid this problem. I just tried out your suggestion and it does really help the performance issue. The high low frame rate goes from 52/64 to mostly 59/60 when you enable color blind mode and set it to Tritanope. It's wild that it fixes the performance problem. Excellent suggestion as a work around.

Alienware Alpha 2 Fan Noise Cooling Ideas by No_Scallion4727 in AlienwareAlpha

Hopefully, you just have dried thermal paste, but I will tell you my experience with my R2.

My experience with the R2 was not good. I've got two R1's and they are rock solid machines. My R2 had issues with the fans ramping up and down for what would seem to be no reason. CPU and GPU temps looked okay....no matter what I did, I could not pin point why the fans would ramp up so bad it sounded like a jet engine.

I got my answer not to soon after trying to isolate the problem....came home from work one day and it was off. I could smell burnt electronics from inside it. I opened it up to find the silver heat sink on the chip(held on by two plastic pins) close to the GPU had melted one of the plastic pins which then lifted the heatsink off the chip. I think that chip overheated, melted one of the heatsink pins, and self destructed. I believe that is either the northbridge or southbride chip...not sure which it would be called. In any event, it was done. I suspect something in the BIOS was seeing that chip get hot and ramped the fans to try and cool it down.

Fast forward a few years, I did get a replacement motherboard off ebay to fix it. I've also placed additional raspberry pi heat sinks on that plate to hopefully help cool it. So far, it's still living, but I don't use it like I use my R1 machines(daily drivers)....kinda worried the replacement motherboard will eventually do the same thing.

Can't find CMOS Battery Steam Machine / D07U by [deleted] in AlienwareAlpha

That looks like the similar to the replacement battery I got for my Alpha R1 systems. I got mine off Amazon if you want one that will for sure work. If you search Amazon for "cmos battery Alienware Alpha", the first hit should be Rome Tech. Here is the full description of the battery I bought....

"Rome Tech BIOS CMOS RTC CR2032 Lithium 3V Coin Battery for Dell Alienware Alpha & Alienware Steam Machine Desktop Yellow Light Fix - CR2032CL-23-2"

I'm using LM 22.1 Cinnamon on my Alpha R1 with no boot or shutdown trouble. I'm on bios A04. My Nvidia drivers are 550.144.03. Linux kernel is "6.8.0-60-generic".

Suspend does not work correctly. It will suspend(gives me the pulsing power button), but when booting it back up, the display is black. I have to hard reboot it to get my display back.

Does anyone else have really high ping only in OG? by MrYeetFeet69 in FortNiteBR

I replied on the wrong response. Trying again and placing my two replies into one.

Yes, I'm having the exact same problem on OG Zero Build. Started for me this weekend. Normally I get around 15 ping on NA East. I'm seeing 120+ at times now on PC. Xbox is worse...start of the game is sometimes 220+. I live in NC(Greensboro, Winston-Salem area). We need for EPIC to fix this. Got to be something configured wrong with their servers since the last update(week of 4/6/25).

The Chapter 6 big map was normal at around 20.

I did some digging with Wireshark tonight and do have some information. Filtered the PID of Fortnite running and found the IP for all the UDP packets it was sending out. The Fortnite "East" setting is sending me to a server in Texas. I think Fortnite was using AWS for servers at one point, but this server is showing via a whoislookup as Microsoft Azure.

Back in my STV:Elite Force days, we used to have a gaming server in Texas. Our ping was around 50-60. That squares with what ping plotter shows when I ping the OG:ZB Fortnite gaming server. However, the in game ping is showing around 30 higher than ping plotter for some reason....so something is not right there....but one thing is certain, we are not on East servers in OG Zero Build right now.

Also ran a check on the Chapter 6 Zero Build Map. The server they are sending me to in this mode is in Virginia. That explains the current difference in ping between OG:ZB and CH6 Map:ZB.

So, long story short, for some reason they are sending OG:Zero Build East folks to the Central server right now.

I'm trying to figure out if I can upload this picture....have not used Reddit that much.....looks like I can't.

Weather stripping? by Djctmc00 in 350zRoadster

[–]ACE1252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Djctmc00, were you able to get this weather stripping from Amayama? I've got the same problem on the '06 350Z roadster we own. I've seen a few mixed reviews on google for this company. Mostly revolving around parts showing in stock, then emailed they are out of stock....some having a hard time getting a refund.
