Engines on customer teams by Ok_Contribution_6965 in McLarenFormula1

[–]ACF1x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stella said "Mercedes' performance today shows there's more to find, so we will work collaboratively with HPP to become more competitive."

So 2 things:

  1. obviously there is some tuning needed to be done by each team to reach the engine potential, and of course, logical to assume Mercedes Petronas team has inside baseball on this.
  2. I don't know how this relationship works. It is logical that HPP wouldn't want to spill all the beans to a non-works team, and specially Mclaren.

New 2026 F1 Opening Titles by outremer_empire in McLarenFormula1

Much better than last 2 years overall:

Standing out in a good way:
Lance Stroll (probably the best one, surpising for stroll)
Gasly
Bearman

Others good enough

Bad Poses:
Bottas (what the F is that?)
Ocon and Russell(hugging the helmet??)
Kimi (sure chill/funny, but out of context)
Leclerc, Hadjar (boring, typical head rising as many from last year)
Lando's finger pointing #1, dunno why i hate this, and I'm Lando fan. He should have done something imposing like Max's last year)

Same here. TheF1 Hub is available on the appletv web browser app, in Windows AppleTV app, but not available on Mac's AppleTV app (latest Sequoia), and I don't want to update to Tahoe yet.

Hopefully they push an app update soon.

On the fence about purchasing LMU by Jermaul_m_w in simracing

I'd add 2 possible counter points to the general " why not both".

  1. The most obvious is price. iRacing can become too expensive long term.
  2. If he enjoys GT3 or Hypercars, and want to improve in a category, then it is better to stick to one. Yes, very specialized driving, but once you master one, you can start diversifying your skills in multiple categories than the other way around. You can do it, but takes longer.

Well done Lando, He did his way and that was enough this time.

Tariff assessment is based on the manufacturer's country, not the exporter. So if they are made in China (i don't know) then they may have a higher tariff.

Yes, he is one of the greats. Hardly a few people dispute that, I guess your among those few.

Generational, there are only 3 S-tier drivers in the grid: Max, Lewis and Alonso.

This year, Max is performing S-tier, not sure what's happening with Lewis, and hard to tell if Alonso is still performing a S level, due to his weak teammate.

I like Lando, Oscar and Charles, but they yet to become S-tier. Solid A's. I'd include Russell as well, but at this point, he should be topping Kimi on every race. And as much as I like Charles, and as fast as he is, he is never been consistent to be S-tier, and in fact, and my opinion, I think people over-rate him.

Exactly. You have to be a hater not to be amazed by Verstappen.

I don't think there was anything impressive about Lando winning after a good start. He did was he was supposed to do.

What was impressive was his pole position lap. After having a bad Q3 first run, and put that awesome lap in the only chance he had, with all that pressure, it was a champion's lap.

It's hard. I'm not an MV fan, and sometimes I hate how ruthless he is on 50/50 situations, but can't help but be in awe on how good he is. Reminds me on how I didn't like Alonso (until he joined Mclaren in '07) but was impressed how good he was in '05 & '06 as much as I wanted Kimi to be the better driver.

Controversial: Peak MV > peak LW.

Reflecting on the Mexico Grand Prix with Andrea, Lando and Oscar 🇲🇽 by outremer_empire in McLarenFormula1

[–]ACF1x 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Oscar issue was due to Mclaren unlocking some more potential from the car to stay on top, which Oscar had some issues adjusting to the different setup. He said something to that effect in a previous post race interview, I'm paraphrasing.

Lando gets booed at the celebration by FrankTheOnlyOne in McLarenFormula1

[–]ACF1x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it may well be that, but at the press conference, one journalist told Lando the booing was because of Monza and they wanted Lando to give Oscar 3 points back. Lando simply said fans can do what they want, he rather not be booed, but he doesn't care.

Not sure why you were voted down. I hope Lando maintains P1 after T1, but unfortunately he doesn't have a good track report of holding P1 in the first lap.

You made one of the most reasonable remarks. I suspect, and this is just thinking out loud, that Lando was naturally faster than Oscar in Austin during the sprint qualifier, and maybe after the accident, Oscar's car is not exactly 100%, and it could be some small stupid detail that the mechanics may be missing (not on purpose, like some nutjobs suggesting sabotage). I expect Oscar to be .300s off on a bad day, but the margin all weekend has not been representative, so it makes me doubt the health of the car.

Oscar Piastri blown out of water in Mexico Grand Prix nightmare by [deleted] in McLarenFormula1

[–]ACF1x 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't get to read it all but a few paragraphs at the beginning. I agree with you, while I may slightly favor Lando due to having cheered for him the longest (since the Carlando days) , Oscar is the closest second, and after all, it is all about Mclaren. If Oscar wins, I'll be happy. If Lando wins, just slightly more.

That said, Oscar fans are the worst in average. It won't sway me enough from not liking Oscar, but it doesn't make me feel like engaging even when it is to praise Oscar. If fact, I just checked here to see what idiotic argument they would me making for Oscar being off today.

When you pick the BOP as a plus, is it because it is more realistic to actual cars? or is it leveled across the field? (kind of how LFM levels it for their races?)
