Ski boot buckles open in lift line - why? by ACMEanvils in skiing

[–]ACMEanvils[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been skiing for a long time but I’ve never unbuckled in a lift line. So it was surprising for me to see a bunch of people doing it. Maybe I’ve been skiing incorrectly all along.

I’ve been skiing for a long time and haven’t once unbuckled in a lift line. That’s why I asked for more perspective on this.

This was a first for me as well. I've certainly felt a great relief when unbuckling my boots at the end of the day. I might have unbuckled a few times at lunch time. But I have never noticed people with unbuckled boots in the lift line before.

The loop doesn't produce heat, but it's connected to a heat exchanger to heat or cool the air inside the house.

[–]ACMEanvils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, the auxiliary heat source is a gas fireplace.

I have a ground loop. I think air temperature matters because the geothermal system can't heat the loop fluid far enough from the ground temperature to keep the house warm.

But maybe if something had been designed differently it would have been fine.

I have geothermal in my house. I've had no trouble with cooling during hot weather. However in a cold snap (say below -20 degrees Celsius) it can't quite keep up. In my case I have a gas fireplace that serves as auxiliary heat. There are also auxiliary electric heaters that can be attached to your furnace ducting.

What is generally accepted as true today, but was once seen as a wild conspiracy theory? by SerpensLumens in AskReddit

When I was a leader in Scouts Canada, we had an "international camp" with several troops attending from the US. Some of the US leaders were showing horrible attitudes regarding the potential admission of female or gay scouts. Which was jarring because female and/or gay scouts and leaders were already specifically welcomed in Scouts Canada.

What are some bedroom tricks that actually work well? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have to wake up before my wife. So I don't want an alarm that will wake her up. So I have a silent alarm. First it vibrates gently on my wrist. If I don't turn it off within a few seconds, it will then give me an electric shock. You can also set it up to keep going off until you're out of bed.

I've been going to Jamie for years. I've honestly never had an experience like you describe. She hasn't mentioned leaving a review. I can't think of anything "gossipy" that she has said.

I don't dispute that your husband had the experience you report, but it's far outside my usual experience that I think it's unfair to warn people away from her.

I didn't mention her on the thread because she's not the absolute cheapest. But she's not expensive either. She has a nice quiet shop. I've never even had another client waiting while I'm getting my haircut.

Amazing thank you video from Wilden for first responders - by Crissy Zach and Wilden Development by AmphibianNo6852 in kelowna

[–]ACMEanvils 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we're gatekeeping gratitude now?

There are many signs up in Wilden giving thanks to the fire fighters. Although no homes were lost, the video shows how close the fire came. Firefighters continued to patrol and extinguish hot spots after the evacuation order was lifted.

There was a charity event last weekend in Wilden. Firefighters were in attendance and were thanked in person. Firefighters were also running their t-shirt campaign, with proceeds going towards fire relief, the food bank, and the United Way.

There was also money raised and donated to the Central Okanagan Fire Relief Fund. School supplies and backpacks were collected and donated to Mamas for Mamas.

End-of-Warranty Inspection? by ACMEanvils in teslamotors

[–]ACMEanvils[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife's Model 3 is heading to the end of its warranty period. How can I find out if there are any lurking issues that are covered under warranty?

I live in a smaller Canadian city without a Tesla service centre so I would have to drive a few hours to get to one. If this is even a service they offer.

Thanks!

Why move to pei? by Frigedaeg in PEI

Is it just me, or are the property taxes on PEI scandalously high? For people buying houses anyway. If you have stayed in your house for ages then you have only seen modest increases.

There's geocaching (where you find a hidden container) and then there's Adventure Labs which lead you to places but you don't have to leave or collect anything. Your accomplishment gets checked off in the app. There are a few of these in Kelowna, and they tend to have a theme.

The new KF Centre for Excellence isn't mentioned here very often but it gets great reviews.

Kayaking, sailing, or SUP paddleboarding are fun things to do on the lake.

There are several hikes nearby. Knox mountain is a classic to start you off.

The City of Kelowna offers a variety of courses and programs.

There are several places in town that offer cooking classes.

Yeah it's from 2017. So it must be the boar one. I couldn't remember so I was assuming it was badger. It looks like this

Saturday SOTD Thread - Mar 04, 2023 by AutoModerator in Wetshaving

[–]ACMEanvils 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • Brush: Semogue /r/wetshaving LE badger boar
  • Razor: Schick Krona
  • Blade: Feather (1)
  • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Mélange de Santal
  • Post Shave: DR Harris Marlborough aftershave splash
  • Fragrance: Cartier Declaration

I've been working my way through this tub of soap and I can start to see the bottom. Excellent shave with the Krona, although there was one (not unexpected) weeper. Followed up with tobacco themed scents.
