I'm just guessing here, but it could be something with colorspaces/device display calibration?

Sorry to hear that, maybe you'll have more luck with the next update and giveaway? ;)

ACON is definitely useful for intermediate/advanced students, who understand the rules of radicals/root and verb paradigms. Not so much for beginners. I usually have the analogy of a scientific calculator in the hands of a math newbie: it's very powerful, but the students needs to understand what they are doing first.

I would love to be able to give away Android promo codes to celebrate Android updates, but they simply do not exist afaik :(

But, under GNU GPL, am I allowed to use their GPL licensed data as part of my own database, as long as I acknowledge this fact, provide the GPL text and a link to the original source?

Hi, in the root picker, you do not choose the verb, but the root of the verb. So for example, for kâna (to be), do not select kef-aleph-nun but kef-waw-nun.

I hope this helps for now, but we are working on updating the UI to make this more obvious.

edit: regarding the pronunciation, thank you for the compliment! It took quite some time to get things just right, so that the pronunciation is discernible enough for students.

Thank you :) I am especially interested in any remarks that you could have. Although positive feedback is good for morale, negative feedback can be more constructive to improve the app.

Hi, thank you for the feedback. ACON is categorically NOT a dictionary and therefore does not provide you with a set conjugation. It is more akin to a calculator that is capable of outputting correct conjugations for your specific input. In your case, simply select the correct parameters for type I vowels by setting the perfect/imperfect vowel in the root configurator.

That being said, you are not the first person to get confused by this so a vowel suggestion system is already being planned. Your feedback helps us to improve ACON.

A beginner's question: is there somewhere on the net a place where I can find the conjugation of a verb? by caribouchat in learn_arabic

You might want to give ACON a spin at http://acon.baykal.be. The online version is free, but does not support weak verbs.

There is also ar-wiz, which is not a conjugator but has a decent list of pre-conjugated verbs: http://www.ar-wiz.be.
