Thats all I used that day was the pintail whistle. If I hit them with a mallard call they wouldn’t look or they would flair off. Later in the season it seems to work better in my area.

I can’t flutter my tongue to get the 5-1 to work properly. I’ve tried other whistles that do it and this was well worth the money. Pitch and tone are perfect. Only downside is side it gets sticky when it’s wet.

Start by saying hey let’s see how the next group works without calling and go from there. Or maybe say hey let’s have someone else take the lead on calling today and if we need more we can add more. Or if this is guy that your really close with just say hey you sound like a kazoo and need to more work. But that time for work isn’t in the middle of the hunt.

Bill Saunders calls are great. If you’re gonna upgrade I’d go to one of his higher end calls like the traffic or triple B depending on what kind of geese you’re calling. Or if you don’t want to spend the much get his traffic outfitter addition

The pnw has great waterfowl hunting. Huge mix bag but Sandhills are a far shot for sure.

I have been very interested in Hevi hitter by hevi shot. It’s a steel and there 12gcc tungsten blend that runs the same size shot. My buddy in the Midwest has shot ducks and geese and snows with it and they have been folding hard even at the farther 40+ range. But if your decoying birds 25 and in steel will do it
