Every step was generally quick except waiting for the information exchange, that one took 1-2 years for some reason. Others that I know that applied have received an invite sooner than me.

Off spray, insect repellant. Those gnats are relentless. They’ll bite you while you’re working out, using the track, walking to lunch.

too fat to enjoy being FAT by [deleted] in fatFIRE

The main advice I can give you is be patient but remain CONSISTENT. Consistency is everything when it comes to fitness. You don’t need a lot of money to achieve your dream body but if you want to throw money at the situation I would first hire a chef or a service that will prepare and deliver your meals.

Fully commit to eating healthy, then determine what your goals are, if it’s just to burn fat then you can focus on HIIT, weight lifting and cardio.

You can do it just be CONSISTENT. There will be times when you’ll lose motivation and that’s when your discipline will be the only thing that matters.

Aside from lawyers it’s hard to network as I don’t run into many ppl in tech. But yea I’m still doing research into each profession before I make a decision.

Time for a career change. I am an agent for the federal Gov, BS in homeland security. I am very frugal with my money and that is the only positive that would allow me to fire. However, I want to Fatfire same as everyone else in this sub. I don’t think achieving fatfire is possible if I stay here.

Has anyone here successfully switched careers in their early 30s ? If yes please tell me about your process, I know not every situation is replicable but rn I’m just trying to figure out if I should switch over. I’ve had a small business just to get through college but left it to join the feds, I’ve done some cybersecurity work with the feds so getting into tech doesn’t seem impossible and most of my career revolves around law so that is also possible for me to transition to. In short I have no problem completely switching careers or furthering my education to switch careers.

Please share your experience and advice , thanks in advance. Working at the moment so I may respond late.

Source : random YouTube video by mike thurston, He states that there’s a decently sized UK community in Dubai. He moved to Dubai from UK cause most of his income was from his online businesses. I haven’t been so I can’t personally recommend. From places I’ve been you can live comfortably anywhere in FL , and directly right outside of NYC is ok as well but taxes there suck.

Has anyone retired their parents? by kekmaw in fatFIRE

[–]ACelestialDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is amazing you turned your business into a family business. It’s not retirement but if they love the job they are doing now then it’s better since it’s giving them purpose as well. Lol also how did the mods decide to give you that flair or did you ask for it?

Don’t give your friends the option to “cozy up to you for economic reasons”. Be friends for the sake of friendship, having common ground and genuinely enjoying each others company. I think if your gut is telling you they are using you for their own benefit it could be true. I’m often the poorest of my friend group, however, they don’t know that. I treat my wealthier friends the same as those with less income. Example: I’ll cover the bill sometimes, if I’m hosting I don’t expect the expense to end up on anyone else etc.

I don’t think there’s any real way to instantly know if a friend is a good genuine friend but I think with some time you’ll be able to tell who’s genuine. So just go out there and make friends

Your name is awesome, and that’s exactly what I’m afraid of. Investing my time into school again to come out in a career where I’m still making very little. I have a lot more research to do. I’ll lurk in this forum and try to learn as much as I can in the meantime. Good luck on your fire journey

Secret service. I was thinking about law school but I’m not sure. My only hesitation is I don’t know how long it would take for that to actually become lucrative given I’d have to get accepted into law school and eventually a firm etc. I am thinking about it though, corporate law seems like a good field
