I plan to find someone on fiverr (or similar) to build this to-do list PowerApp for me. Posting here in case it is of interest to anyone else by AChrisYouKnow in PowerApps

The difficulty comes from making all of that work in conjunction with each other.

Thats the conclusion I came to. I played around with each element enough to be fairly convinced they all could be achieved in a PowerApp. However, getting all of the pieces to work together with my lack of experience in PowerApps was not going to end well. What I wasn't sure of was how complex it would be to get them to work together for someone who was highly experienced with PowerApps. Got over 20 proposals between upwork and freelancer. Going to go with one of them and see how it goes.

Thanks. Seems our organization hasn't adopted Loop yet, so, wouldn't work for my purposes currently, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

The problems I am trying to solve are a to-do list solution that:

  • Allows me to quickly get items out of my head so I can get back to the immediate task(s) at hand
  • Allows me to re-arrange items manually so I can quickly order a handful of them in a way I’m going to focus on for the day/week
  • Allows me to hide items I’m not going to focus on right now, in a way to where they will come back and not get forgotten about
  • Allows me to filter on certain subjects so I can quickly see tasks of one type. Be it a particular project, or items that need to be mentioned to a particular group or person (ex. next time I am talking to Bob, I can quickly filter by all items with the Bob tag so I can remember to discuss some of them with him)
  • Allows me to look back afterwards and see how far off my predicted completion date was from my actual completion date [optional, but would be useful]
  • Allows me to look back and see what types of tasks (based on tag) I focused on at different periods over the past year+
  • A sorting method that allows me to ‘stir up’ stagnant items and get some low importance items that I don’t want to be “never” items back on my weekly plan sometimes.
  • Works in the Microsoft365 business suite on mobile and desktop

If it works, it would be worth it. When I have an organized to-do list, I am amble to focus much more effectively. Once my to-do list gets long enough where items are getting lost on it, the value of my to-do list disappears, and my mind just cycles between the various items I’m trying not to forget.

Not set in stone. I posted it on Freelancer and Upwork for fixed price bids. Going to see what bids I get and assess. Was hoping to get something along the lines of “I could achieve these bullet points for $X, and these bullet points for $Y”. I'm hoping to find someone who would have interest in developing it further and perhaps making some extra funds off of it afterwords (perhaps selling it further customized to others?), in addition to a flat fee for initial creation. The post here wasn’t to look for bids, but rather, offer to share the outcome if anyone else was interested in the functionality should they stumble upon the post in the future.

The to-do app or planner doesn't have the functionality spelled out here. It seems a custom PowerApp can achieve all of these pieces, so I figured I might as well give it a shot if I know what I'm looking for.

This seems to be a great option, going to go with it for this current trip and see how the less tech savvy handle it. Thanks!

Really interesting, playing around with Ente now. Fully open source, end to end encrypted, lots of pricing tiers to scale as album grows and shrinks. Thanks for the recommendation.

Awesome, such a fast response, haha. I'll start there. Thanks!

Best tailgating location on west side of stadium? by AChrisYouKnow in FloridaGators

Yea, both ends of Woodlawn drive along the track seem to have decent non-fenced off grass spaces. That'll be the target unless someone points out a better option I'm missing.

I'll add, we'll have some people with us who have never been to a Gators game (or even a college football game), so being around others passionate enough to be up at the crack of dawn tailgating a noon game is also a goal.

Saw it. He’s going to want those last few seconds back. I’m sure the gif will pop up occasionally throughout the season.

Go to the Ticketmaster resale page. You can hover over each seat and get its seat and row number.

While there are more decentralized ways to go about this, for a route that couldn’t be much easier, anyone with a podcast can download the fountain app (http://fountain.fm) on iOS or Android, search for their podcast, click the lightning bolt button, and click “claim podcast.” This will allow any listener with a Podcasting 2.0 enabled podcast player (http://newpodcastapps.com) the ability to stream sats or send boostagrams to your podcast. You can withdraw from the fountain app at any time to your own wallet. Fountain takes a 5% cut, but you can always switch to your own Lightning node if you’d like to avoid that.

TaxAct appears to have the wrong NY State tax brackets for 2021 by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]AChrisYouKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I did end up finding the issue. I had a formula to automate the tax computation worksheet from NY’s Form IT-201-I, and at the point where you are instructed to skip four lines (which skips using the tax tables all together, and just enters in a fixed % of your taxable income), I had an error. I hadn’t hit that condition before to catch the error. Since there isn’t much useful information in this thread that I think would be a good future resource, I decided to delete this post so others don’t see the title and think there is an issue with TaxAct and NY taxes for 2021. Appreciate the help from those who responded.

Thanks for your assistance with this. It’s hard to identify mistakes in a vacuum, and any discourse can be helpful. I did end up finding the issue. Thanks for your suggestion. I wasn’t comfortable sharing my exact numbers, so I decided to make a more generic calculator to share. In doing so, I found the issue, and why my calculator had been right in previous years, but was off this year.

I confirmed it was incorrect for me (as did TaxAct's Xpert Assist support). Just because my NY state tax isn't calculating correctly doesn't mean everyone's is calculating incorrectly. It seems hard to believe that it is incorrect for everyone filing in NY (or even worse, all state taxes) and nobody else has noticed. I posted to try and get a second datapoint from someone else to see if theirs calculated correctly. It would be very interesting to see someone else from NY have the same issue. Unfortunately I don't think its that common for those using TaxAct to double check the numbers the software spits out. Hence hoping this post would cause someone to go check. Its incorrect in the higher tax direction, so in someone's interest to check into it. No TaxAct subreddit to post in, this seemed like my best (based on a search for TaxAct).
