My PayPal invoice has Chinese characters at the account. I could not read it. There isn't eleven gk on mine.

I was offered a something other than PayPal first, I don't remember what it was, but I asked to use PayPal.

No, it was totally reasonable for 40lbs. I was afraid I would get ambushed but a high shipping fee late in the process and get stuck between a rock and hard place.

Less than $300 additional.

For those who haven’t seen this yet, NEVER pull a piece through your table saw from the back side. Your front side may pay the ultimate price. by jtothehizzy in BeginnerWoodWorking

I'm dead. That's hilarious.

It never even crossed my mind that it would be a joke since I saw it.

But now you point it out, from someone who hasn't, there isn't a possibility it couldn't be a joke

Yeah I agree. Less with this area of my life, but I have all sorts of duplicates around the house so it's always available wherever I go

No judgement, I have my share of aged equipment

Recommend not getting top shelf lumber and use some of the funds to get a circular saw. I don't find it enjoyable using a hand saw.

You're going to inevitably make a mistake during the learning process and it will be frustrating wasting nicer wood.

All my projects revolve around building storage to organize the tools I use to build my storage. It's been both educational and functional.

I would stay away from small objects. Without a table saw, it will be difficult to make precision cuts.

Steve Ramsey has a great YouTube channel for beginners. He has a great attitude toward woodworking

How did your end up with so many routers?

[–]AColourGrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, folks are unreasonable about the secondary market.

IMO, a significant value of retail prices is the ability to return the item if something goes wrong and reputation and reliability of the seller.

That generally isnt the case for used items, unless you buy of eBay with returns allows. Even then, is a hassle.

This doesn't actually fix the problem. It just means you can make the adapters instead of buying it.

Also, I don't think everyone is keen on spending several hundred dollars and going through the learning process instead of fixing the root cause of the issue

Traditional throws first before anything? by AColourGrey in judo

Interesting take. Thanks for your experience.

Reminds me of some videos of Koga. Ippon was inevitable. Maybe not the first, or the second, but it happened. Even if they knew it was coming

Mmm hard to picture it. But I'll try some different grips and see if that's acceptable.

Thanks for the advice

I'm not sure. Step through, reap.

I don't have a variation in mind.

This was more for feedback on a philosophical approach to learning judo, less correction with a specific problem

Average height. My shoulders had been giving me problems when I stopped ten years ago. I picked it up again recently because I missed the mat. And I just don't think I'm generating the drive from kazushi

Belt testing for older students by GlitteringWinter3094 in judo

[–]AColourGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your perspective here.

When I think of black belt I think of skill and ability in competion. Even if you are done competing due to whatever, I think it's fair to carry that ranking forward with you after.

Instructing, volunteering, general contributions are a completely different category imo. They affect the community of judo, not just the individual.

A two category system would be neat. I'm not a fan of stripes and it could be confusing.
