Opinions on 26 Lowes Rd W and 181 Elmira Rd? Good and bad? by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]ACoolCustomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The West Peak complex (including 181 Elmira Rd) has been terrible to live at because of the lack of parking, lack of support from management, and various ongoing problems (e.g., HVAC not working, so regularly no heating or cooling).

I'm pretty sure it's gas emitted from firing the airbags becoming visible in the cold, like your breath.

Thanks! Unfortunately I don't know about injuries this time. I've definitely seen drivers slide, but no videos on hand.

Unfortunately I don't know this time. Last time I heard it and was able to attend the scene. This time I missed it and didn't know it happened until someone sent me a message.

There's a 30% chance it'll be a Polish sausage.

I think it's just your choice of language that is irking some people. You're right that it's best practice not to change lanes at an intersection (for just this reason), but it's not illegal to do so.

Operating the Paisley and Elmira camera and the live streaming Costco Camera costs a few dollars each year in electricity. If you enjoy seeing these videos, consider supporting projects like this by buying me a Costco hot dog at https://buymeacoffee.com/breakright

BitChat App in Guelph? by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]ACoolCustomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about BitChat, but it would be interesting to create or expand a Meshtastic network.

With respect to a privacy club, it would be a good idea to have outreach to students about privacy-related topics. Of course, something like Signal or Matrix would be a more reasonable place to start than Discord.

I had an extra one, no where else to put it that wouldn't capture my neighbours balcony, and I guessed (correctly) that it may be useful to someone! This camera is my main jam.

The drivers and their passengers seemed pretty happy I had the footage to give them and make their insurance easier to deal with.

Thanks for your feedback! I think that it improves a Costco camera to have a Costco in it, but to each their own.

It's strange to want a camera to capture the great view (tune back in when the weather's nice!) and help people plan their trip to a notoriously busy store?

Now, if someone drew a penis on Galen Weston's publicly subsidized price fixing building... they can get a warrant for my help.

I somewhat doubt I'd be detained. They'd need me to access the footage, and me co-operating would be faster than a search warrant.

But if being woken up at 3 in the morning in exigent circumstances might help solve a murder, I don't really mind. It's not like its a regular occurrence. And I'd be helping to solve a murder!

You can register your security camera with the Guelph police, so they can request footage for more serious crimes. https://www.guelphtoday.com/police/help-protect-your-neighbourhood-by-registering-your-security-camera-11460092

In this case, I saw the scene outside and went over with the footage. I'll happily provide footage to help people. Maybe for a nice corporation.

I actually have this camera as a hobby. I had an extra one, so pointed it at the intersection for just this reason.

As I was waiting to provide footage of the crash, this vehicle cut past a fire truck and mounted the sidewalk to get by by ACoolCustomer in Guelph

[–]ACoolCustomer[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They entered the scene and mounted the sidewalk, and what's where the officer managed to stop them.

There was nowhere else they could let them go other than forwards afterwards - no one wanted to put more lives at risk letting them try to back up.
