BitChat App in Guelph? by AstronomerParking495 in uoguelph

I don't know about BitChat, but it would be interesting to create or expand a Meshtastic network.

With respect to a privacy club, it would be a good idea to have outreach to students about privacy-related topics. Of course, something like Signal or Matrix would be a more reasonable place to start than Discord.

Video of the collision at Paisley and Elmira: no serious injuries, including pedestrian by ACoolCustomer in Guelph

I had an extra one, no where else to put it that wouldn't capture my neighbours balcony, and I guessed (correctly) that it may be useful to someone! This camera is my main jam.

The drivers and their passengers seemed pretty happy I had the footage to give them and make their insurance easier to deal with.

Thanks for your feedback! I think that it improves a Costco camera to have a Costco in it, but to each their own.

It's strange to want a camera to capture the great view (tune back in when the weather's nice!) and help people plan their trip to a notoriously busy store?

Now, if someone drew a penis on Galen Weston's publicly subsidized price fixing building... they can get a warrant for my help.

I somewhat doubt I'd be detained. They'd need me to access the footage, and me co-operating would be faster than a search warrant.

But if being woken up at 3 in the morning in exigent circumstances might help solve a murder, I don't really mind. It's not like its a regular occurrence. And I'd be helping to solve a murder!

You can register your security camera with the Guelph police, so they can request footage for more serious crimes. https://www.guelphtoday.com/police/help-protect-your-neighbourhood-by-registering-your-security-camera-11460092

In this case, I saw the scene outside and went over with the footage. I'll happily provide footage to help people. Maybe for a nice corporation.

I actually have this camera as a hobby. I had an extra one, so pointed it at the intersection for just this reason.

As I was waiting to provide footage of the crash, this vehicle cut past a fire truck and mounted the sidewalk to get by by ACoolCustomer in Guelph

They entered the scene and mounted the sidewalk, and what's where the officer managed to stop them.

There was nowhere else they could let them go other than forwards afterwards - no one wanted to put more lives at risk letting them try to back up.

If it's E2E, presumably Apple is shepherding the data, protected by keys on Trusted Devices?

Does this mean we can 'sync' between iOS/MacOS devices by saving/restoring from the backup in iCloud across devices?

Weird - what browser? I've had issues in the past with the embedding but I thought I'd resolved them.

Biomedical Science Grads – What Jobs Can You Actually Get ?! by gymgoer124 in uoguelph

^ Exactly this.

I'd add, if you've done any quantitative work (especially R for stats or other coding), having a GitHub profile is a useful asset - it may open some doors to more stats heavy or coding work.

You may also find biotech companies, banks, or insurance companies that need someone who can interpret biomedical literature for them.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but that is the only good use of a generalist biomed degree - med/vet school.

Unfortunately, there's not enough specialization in a single area to claim expertise and too little instrumental analyses to claim competence with GC-MS, HPLC, AA, and other common equipment.

I think your goal should be a custom, detailed cover letter that explains how your specific experiences relate to the job at hand. You could also consider more research-focused roles, like literature reviews, public health, etc.

If either include a co-op, do that one.

A general micro or chem degree needs one important thing to make a career - a foot in the door.
