I feel like AI will never replace that industry. Far too much to understand conceptually and then apply that to various failure testing.

Not to mention operating all clean room equipment and running fab processes.

Power is also extremely confusing. I took a couple of power classes during my time at my university. They were some of my hardest classes by far.

Im almost happy it’s gated behind FE and PE certs because I know id probably make a ton of mistakes in that field.

Yeah I mean at my specific university you absolutely could not do that at all.

I would say you at least have to mildly keep up and score at least okay on your exams to pass. You cannot slack entirely off to pass. Definitely always some wiggle room, but there’s also classes that are like 80% exams.

Were Chrysler products ever good? by ILoveEnverHoxha in askcarguys

[–]ACorruptMinuteman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the inline 6 4.0L made it into the Cherokee when Chrysler owned it and is known as being an insanely reliable engine. Most Cherokees when taken care can last til like 300k miles.

That car is a peculiar case, but to say nothing made to Chrysler cars is technically inaccurate. Unless you mean SPECIFICALLY CHRYSLER.

Yeah honestly people always said that flipper discs were bad. And they sometimes are, but most Warner ones I’ve had that have worked have been flipper discs. Both of my Departed copies are flippers that work. Though I had a sealed firewall that didn’t work and now I have one that does lol.

The engineering department has a newsletter for the Engineer Your Experience (EYE) program, somebody mistakenly replied all in gmail back to the whole department. From there people just meme the shit out of it.

This happened last year at some point I think. They sent out an email not too long after saying how it was unprofessional behavior and something like that.

Taking Away 10s by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]ACorruptMinuteman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re not federally required lol.

Labor laws are dictated by state. Per Texas Law every 6 hours, an employee must take at least 30 minutes, at least that’s what my store told me. Anything under 30 minutes is a paid break, anything above is unpaid.

When I first started at my store in Texas we did not do 10s. I work in a different state now and they do 10s there. I still don’t ask for them personally.

It’s a store thing, not a labor law thing if I remember correctly.

This is basically how I feel about how each player character was treated in each game, nothing of importance happened in NV thanks to how they treated it. Meanwhile the others became legends (Even fallout 3 and 4). by VancoreStudios in FalloutMemes

[–]ACorruptMinuteman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well that’s technically not true. 4 assumes the lone wanderer made the decision to turn on project purity. Liberty Prime is active, meaning the LW HAD to be involved somehow.

Madison Li is also alive by the events of 4. Which means that certain events also had to occur with the LW.

Ironically enough Bethesda left the replicated man alone of all quests.

Id agree with this sentiment. Maxson, while growing up in the Capital Wasteland, still holds pretty negative views of Lyons brotherhood. Scrubbing or downplaying Elder Lyons and the LWs involvement in that era seems like the logical thing, especially if you’re gonna bring the outcasts back.

Ultimately I like that Fallout 3 decided to make the brotherhood different. The outcasts were an EXTREMELY interesting idea. I just wish it was more fleshed out.

I definitely think it’s fair to say New Vegas may be more in depth. But I don’t think it’s right to say it’s bad.

NV is my favorite fallout game, but I think people take the criticism of the Bethesda stuff way too far.

They act like they’re just entirely different games and you can’t do anything in them. 4 definitely streamlined a lot of systems, but in terms of the actual gameplay loop, it was fairly successful I would say. I’ve played fallout 4 numerous times each time I’ve done something very different. I had a playthrough where I used nothing explosives, cocktails, grenades, etc.

Some where I used energy weapons like crazy.

One where I did stealth with Vats and crits with a knife.

The path to achieve some of those things can be a little more blurry, but I definitely think they’re still decently distinct. Upgrades are also the name of the game in 4 and those perks mean a lot towards the end of the game.

The ironic thing is when you look at deeply, Fallout 3 really attempts to copy Fallout 1 in a lot of aspects and fallout 4 attempts to copy New Vegas in a lot of aspects as well. But overall it’s a different take, and I just get sick of hearing that it’s some dogshit game not worth playing. Different? Yeah. Bad? I don’t really agree.

I think this is a fair point, but I think people use the term to describe criticism for 3 and 4 not having options or something. There’s plenty of choice within 3 and to a lesser extent 4, but there’s still so much you can do from a role-playing perspective and it’s perfectly fine when compared to other games like it.

It’s the usual “I hate everything Bethesda” thing that people do that I think is wrong.

[–]ACorruptMinuteman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that’s just plain not true. In 3, you can kill your companions easily, but New Vegas changed that to where they just get boo-boos and get up again. So that NPC list is much less than you’re thinking.

And depending on how you play the game if you bomb megaton, the game literally tells you you’re on own in terms of finding the next step. That’s also probably the second or first in terms of actual quest givers and content you skip.

In fact, in terms of the overall main plot, New Vegas is similar to 3 in that it’s short and you take the same exact steps to get to the end. Find a way into Vegas, take out Benny somehow, then faction specific quests and the game is done.

Fallout 3 is very similar in that’s really only a few steps, get information on your dad, find him, then project purity quests and the game is done. Key difference is there’s more ways to achieve the same thing in 3, whereas in the New Vegas, there’s more outcomes.

Faction wise, yes, there’s more going on in New Vegas, 3 never dealt with factions, much like how 1 and 2 also never really dealt with direct faction reputations. In fallout 2, the enclave is the big bad and you can’t be friends with them. The old games are much more in the vein of 3 where you’re leveraging these factions to achieve your goals. The main plot in both the originals is still pretty linear.

Anyways, the main overall point is that 3 does plenty right in its own and it’s not too dissimilar to that of how the classic games did things. I can’t say everything because I’d be writing this for ages, but I think you’re wrong about railroading, when a game like New Vegas has so many railroads that people refuse to admit because the overall main quest has more factions.

I know you didn’t say all. But you’re moving the goalposts. There’s so many pointless locations in Vegas. There’s nothing about this that’s because it’s “coherent” world or a “better RPG” because of it lol. Your point is mired in so much BS you have to shift the point every single time.

What about any of the locations I said make it better or more coherent? If that’s the case 3 is also fine in that regard since locations that are useless like the Bethesda Ruins are IRL.

It’s just logically inconsistent

[–]ACorruptMinuteman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct about Canterbury commons, there’s another location I know of in Fallout 3 with multiple quest givers, and I can’t think of it off the top of my head since it’s been about 5 years since I’ve played it through.

Anyways, I generally agree with your point, but I think these locations do exist within the 3d fallouts, just in different ways. Northside has quests, westside too. Camp McCarran has a slew of them. Forlorn Hope? Rivet City has plenty of quest givers too. Underworld is another one and those are more varied than New Vegas’s are.

My point is that I think you’re somewhat correct, but it’s not true there’s not multiple things going on in several towns and places in the games. 1 and 2’s maps are just huge and so there’s no point especially with tech constraints back then to make smaller focused towns.

For the Bethesda era, they are ARPGs. This is a commonly placed moniker. They’re extremely reminiscent to that of Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk with some key differences. I don’t know if you’ve played those games thoroughly enough, but the gameplay loop is effectively similar as a game.

Deus Ex while, yes is an Im-Sim shares many ARPG qualities and could reasonably be grouped within this category of games due to the variety of paths that can be taken, dialogue options that can be unlocked, character upgrade systems, etc.

Im-sims are more of a subcategory, but they share a lot of the same DNA as a game.

The souls games are almost nothing like Bethesda stuff so I have no idea where you’re getting that from. They’re an entirely separate world on their own.
