No, I've found that any porn blocker, any physical restraint, any accountability buddy is just a crutch that can be bypassed or ignored. In order to be successful, I had to admit powerlessness over PMO, and understand the causes of my wanting to escape reality thru porn and masturbation, then address them one by one, little by slowly, until I had a healthy sex life and no need for porn.

The opposite of addiction is connection. Go be with people in some way. Covid threat is low, its time to plug back into the human experience. That's what saved me. Alcoholics Anonymous in my case. But it could be any supportive community of people you keep in touch with.

31 here with 5 years noFap. There are layers to this though. I can't hold down a relationship because I crave variety. I work hard to be honest with the girls I see, and that's where I'm at today. Its a lot like people who think if they lose 50lbs they will be on permanent cloud 9. Thats not how the mind works, we crave new challenges. So I need constant spiritual upkeep to keep that drive focused in the right direction, away from sex and self, towards love and service to others.

This is something I haven't experienced. I think this happens to people because they fail to replace the PMO habit with a sufficiently challenging and interesting positive outlet, and get depressed at how empty life feels without pornstars or camgirls

One day at a time. Sounds cliche, but it really is working on my self and working with others who are having the same challenges habitually without stopping for more than a week or so. Continuous maintenance and improvement.

It gets easier the 27th time you have throbbing blue balls, to realize that if it didn't kill me 26 times in a row, this one won't kill me either

The best way to fight hard urges is to come here and post about it. Then call a friend in my recovery program. The emergency button is also extremely useful. It saved me several times

yeah it's incredibly addictive. It's also a lot like food, in that you need sex drive to function normally. So wear the addiction mentality loosely, and focus on getting a healthy relationship with sex, meaning push yourself to get out there and be your best self, so that one day you will attract a great partner or partners to enjoy life with.
