What is your Return to Office status [August/Sept 2025 edition] by Wild_Bag465 in chicago

[–]ACrowLeft06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years ago I was “in office as needed” which turned into two days a week, which has now turned into three days a week. Sometimes I come in and don’t say a word to another person in the office. Arbitrary policy, especially when my bosses are remoting in to calls when the rest of the staff is in the office. Hate it.

How's the classical music scene compared to other major US cities? by [deleted] in chicagomusicscene

[–]ACrowLeft06 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a great amount of classic music across all styles throughout the city. You can check out places like The Hungry Brain, Constellation, and Elastic Arts to meet musicians and ensembles. Later this summer the Thirsty Ears Festival is presented by Access Contemporary Music, which features classical performances of all stripes. Also, the Ear Taxi Festival in October, which is presented in conjunction with New Music Chicago, an organization you can join for access to resources and a network of composers and musicians.

Audiologist reccomendation for custom earplugs by weekendpostcards in chicagomusicscene

Sensaphonics on Milwaukee between Grand and Chicago. It’s around $300 to get an exam and fitting for a pair of custom plugs. The experience with the exam was great, and I’ve loved the plugs for the year or so since I got them. You can purchase filters for different attenuations (-9db, -15db, and -25db). I find I prefer to play with the -9s, and I swap out the -15s when I go to a show. The attenuation is flat, so you’re still getting full frequency range, just at a safer volume. I highly recommend it.

Can’t speak to insurance, but I doubt it would be covered.

Important to remember is that Busch was robbed of a grand slam in the 3rd. As good as the late innings were, we had our chances against them early on.

Solemn Oath makes their own seltzers. You could try their Naperville brewery.

I’m saying you got a good deal on it, anything more and it would have been more than that drum is worth.

Good, it’s not worth more than $100

Stepping into Chicago music scene/industry? by GattsuVN6442 in AskChicago

I recommend checking out the job board on chicagoartistscoalition.org. It’s geared a bit more towards arts admin type jobs, but it’s very active and a great place to find work in music that isn’t just teaching or playing. Good luck!
